HERB OF THE WEEK - Catnip - "Not just for cats! Catnip can also calm dogs and help with digestive issues."
Did you know catnip:
✅ in the wild has a pungent tangy mint aroma
✅ has a fuzzy flannel type appearance
✅ its hard to find in the wild
✅ may help with a windy tummy

you can get dried catnip fairly easily online and use this to make a lovely herbal tea.

HERB OF THE WEEK - Peppermint - "Keep your pet cool and refreshed as temperatures rise with the benefits of mint."

Some pets may not appreciate the minty flavour but this plant packs a host of powerful benefits.

✅Helps with gut gas issues
✅Anti-nausea
✅Antiseptic
✅Digestive stimulant.

So either making a freshly picked herbal tea or using dried leaves, offer your pet a tasty bowl of minty tea (cooled) and see what they do. Update on Friday, also post some pics on the plants you found and your pet drinking the tea, if they did.

HERB OF THE WEEK - Wild Chervil - "Enhance flavor and nutrition with chervil, great for springtime dishes.
Did you know Chervil or Cow Parsley:
✅ is a member of the carrot family
✅ has a stem similar to celery with tiny hairs
✅ may help gut issues
✅ has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties

❌ not to be confused with poisonous hemlock which flowers later in the year, is taller and has a smooth stem with purple spots and smells of cat wee!!
❌ watch out for fools parsley which is a garden plant, smaller with long dangly leaves handing below the flower head.

You can offer your pet fresh chervil or make a tea out of the flowers.

HERB OF THE WEEK - Dandelion
Did you know dandelions are:
✅ good for guts
✅ you can use the whole plant
✅ it is full of vitamins and minerals
✅ you can use it fresh or dried
✅ it is from the sunflower family
✅ has more protein than spinach

Dandelion is wonderful herb and although many see it as a w**d ruining lawns across the country, it has so much nutrient value we really should all be eating this in our salads and stews.

For our pets it provides an excellent gut soother and nutrient boost, with additional benefits of of anti-inflammatory properties.

Challenge of the week - go find some clean dandelion and using the fresh leaves and flowers make a tea and also offer fresh to your pet see if they eat it.
