Today was a hard and hot day, but our favourite circus pony finally got his 🏀🏀 off! Here's hoping he starts acting like a grown Man. (Not likely...)
We are all a bit bruised, battered and sunburnt. But what a day. ✂️✂️✂️

Mandatory puppy post!
These are and always will be our favourite appointments.
Piret even had a little helper for the otherwise boring paperwork.

We have gained a reputation for doing home euthanasias since we started a couple years ago. It is a sad job but often necessary to help your pets pass peacefully at home surrounded by family.

⚠️STRANGLES ALERT⚠️

In light of the recent outbreaks of Strangles we would like to highlight the course of action that needs to be taken by owners and yard staff to prevent the spread of this disease.
While usually not fatal, it can shut down the movement of horses, including hacking out and competitions.
While there is a fairly new vaccine available, not many horses have it on board and it won't protect them 100%.

Make sure any new arrivals are isolated for a couple of weeks away from other horses in case symptoms appear. Also make sure new arrivals have been screened for strangles either by blood test or endoscopy of the guttural pouches prior to arrival. Some long standing carriers might come back negative on blood test but can spread the disease down the line if present in the guttural pouch.

If Strangles is suspected on the yard, it is recommended to pay close attention to biosecurity and assume the Traffic Light System as seen below. Separate groups of horses into 3 - No contact, Contact and Clinical cases.
Remember the contact can also be indirect via feed or water buckets and people on the yard.

Call your vet immediately if you notice any swelling or abscesses around the throat area and/or discharge from the nose.

We had a very joyful appointment yesterday! 9 bundles of labrador fun, all having their microchips and vaccinations done.

Some of them are still looking for their forever home! 🏡 Fully KC registered.

We have just upgraded our equine dental equipment, everyting from regular checkups and rasps to wolf tooth removal and more, seen by a veterinarian.
Sedation optional (though available) and often not needed if approached appropriately.
Let us know if you want us to come and do your horse's yearly checkups and correction. Discount applies if more than 4 horses are seen at the same yard.
We would also recommend doing your scheduled vaccines at the same time to cut down on callout fees.

We went out to vaccinate 10 beautiful bunnies on Friday and got surprised with another curious (and massive) skin growth on the elderly family dog.
*We are tempted to make a joke about a certain body part that should not be found on a female dog*
Thinking on the spot we removed the issue and she was very happy to make friends with us even after it was done.
We wish her a quick recovery!
