***The wonder of hibiscrub***

This pooch had a really itchy and uncomfortable skin infection/hotspot (superficial pyoderma). We controlled it with daily disinfectant soap scrubs and baths and a pet shirt that was washed and changed daily. It healed after about 8 days. These infections spread really quickly so rapid action is always better!

⭐️⭐️ Graphic content ⭐️⭐️

This little mix breed dog, Theo had a wound on his toe which was causing him a lot of pain and not healing despite all the clients efforts. We tested the skin and diagnosed what’s called a Squamous cell carcinoma (cancer) of his nail bed. We unfortunately had to amputate his toe but he walked out the clinic so much happier as his source of pain was gone. He healed without complications.

🐾 Remember that some of our canine and feline ‘oldies’ also feel the effects of arthritis. Just like humans, they will feel aching pain and stiffness. This is especially true for larger breed dogs but is seen commonly in all older animals. Always make sure they have nice soft bedding and contact us for advice on joint supplements and the various pain relief options that we use in the veterinary Industry. Remember that painful animals won’t always cry, so keep a close eye on their movement and activities and let them slow down on their walks if they are struggling !🐾

A couple of weeks ago we did emergency surgery on a little French bulldog, Luna. She had eaten a hard vegetable chew. A small piece got stuck in her gut. We performed an enterotomy on her and removed the blockage. Luckily it was caught in time as foreign body blockages are very dangerous. She is healing well.

Meet Oscar. We saw Oscar because he was suffering with diarrhoea and vomiting that had lasted for 2 weeks. We sent some faeces off to lab and he was diagnosed with a parasite called Giardia. These parasites look like little faces under the microscope. We treated Oscar with some special wormer and a course of antibiotics and he is back to causing mischief at home!
