Regular dental check-ups for your horse are important to keep on top of their oral health. Early intervention is often easier and cheaper to deal with than major dental problems. Your horse will be pain free and less likely to develop further complications or tooth loss in older age.

Dental check-ups should be every 6-12 months and can be carried out alongside other routine appointments such as vaccinations, and can be booked in for our 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 for your area, to save you money on visit fees. Once your appointment is booked, we will then send you a text the day before with your time slot so you can plan your day.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿

With the temperatures set to be high this week, please consider the following before you set off with them:

🐴 Avoid travelling at the warmest part of the day; aim for early morning or later evening
🐴 Ensure the trailer is cool enough - can you add any form of aircon?
🐴 Plan your journey - check the traffic so you can be as prepared as possible for
delays
🐴 Make sure your horse is well hydrated. Make sure they have had plenty of water
before you set off and plan to make regular stops if you are making a longer
journey
🐴 If the weather is really hot, please consider not travelling if your journey is not
essential

If you are LOCAL to our practice, in postcodes CM1, CM2, CM4, CM5 or CM15, your zone visit day is currently a Friday. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆.

Some of you may recognise Doris the donkey. She came into our equine hospital last month, from Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, with a potentially life-threatening liver and kidney issue.

After a short stay with us, receiving critical care, we are very happy to say that Doris is back in good health, and home at Hopefield.

For anyone who watched The Supervet on Channel 4 last night, you would have seen Odin's story. Odin, the 78kg Caucasian Shepherd, was a patient of ours who was referred to Fitzpatrick's for Wobblers, and had intricate spinal surgery, which is featured in the episode. He was a beautiful boy and a gentle giant.

It's a question we get asked regularly. Unfortunately, the short answer is No.
Under the regulations which govern us, we cannot reuse any medication, even if it is still sealed, as we cannot guarantee it has been stored in the correct manner. Despite generous offers from clients, we are also not able to donate to someone else in need or a charity.
