Dunster in December is happening instead of Candlelight this year and will run from the 4th December up to the New Year giving you plenty of time to visit and distance. We are concentrating on ‘dressing’ the village for Christmas to make it an even more interesting place to visit and bring a bit of joy in these dreadful times.
We are expecting the Tree (kindly donated by Dunster Estate) and there will be special decorations on the Yarn Market. Around Dunster, small ‘Papier Mache’ style balls at £2 in aid of St. Margaret’s Hospice are on sale now and we are asking you the public to buy them, take them home, decorate them and let us have them back by the end of November. They will be wired onto the garlands on the Yarn Market for the 4th December.
The window dressing competition will happen again, we had some wonderful windows last year including the one above. Some of the cottages, particularly in West Street, decorate their front room and leave the curtains open for you to view the cosy glow inside.
The children from a particular year in the Dunster and Timberscombe schools are making their willow lanterns. As we can’t have the procession, the lanterns will be placed around the village.
We are also having a treasure trail with a quiz. This will be in the shape of large wreaths and you will need to find them and answer the question on each one. It is suitable for adults and children. Forms for the trail will be on sale in Dunster from the 4th December. Come and visit throughout December but remember Covid Rules/Regulations will be in place the same as any other High Street or Village. Just an update, unfortunately we will have to remain closed for the time being, social distancing is still very important and rightly so, We are keeping in contact with Defra regarding the animals safety, we are not willing to risk the animals health or your health x

🆕 Save the date - it's nearly Christmas!

🎄 Plans are still being finalised concerning the full Dunster By Candlelight programme but a useful daytime extension to the event has been announced for Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December.

The lofty and airy Tithe Barn will be utilised as well as the outside spaces under the Linhay and in Priory Gardens.

So, if restrictions, or not, the show, will still go on!

🆕 Delicious Dunster is now scheduled for Sunday 13th September utilising the additional outside spaces under the Linhay and in the Priory Gardens, in addition to the very airy Tithe Barn itself!

The new stand arrangement will allow for more stands as well as compliance with social distancing and a one-way circulation system for the visiting public.

There is still no news exactly on when restrictions will ease for internal exhibition hall events, so this way Delicious Dunster will now proceed even if only outside events are possible!

Hi all, due to the corona virus we have made the decision to stop all events at the moment, I have spoken to our vet who also agrees this is the best thing for our animal's at this time , it isn't known if they can get the virus how ever they can carry it, The health of my animals and family come first. I hope all understand and we will review this with Defra and our vet . Naz Kingston x
