Thank you SO much to everyone who bought a ticket for the Raffle or donated in aid of Jack’s Neuroblastoma Journey . We raised an amazing £317! Which I have just paid into the Go Fund Me account 👏
Well done to Millie Bines (& Pip) for winning, I will arrange delivery/collection of your prize this week 😁
How many dog trainers does it take to fold a Gazebo in the Westonzoyland wind?
This many (and one to video! Thanks Lou 😆).
Saw this exercise on a video from a Dog Central Camp and as we'd been working on arm/direction changes, thought I'd give it a go with the baby.
Hard to tell from the video, but 4 wings 😍
Tux is just 7 months old so has only been working on flat work and individual foundation skills. This week we put 7 of them together to make his very first sequence!
- Wait
- Drive a straight line away from me
- Forward Focus/Go where I point
- Front Cross
- Toy drive
- Don't help yourself to your toy/impulse control
- Retrieve
When you work hard on the basics, the rest just falls into place. We have lots more basics to cover so will be benching sequencing for the time being, but it's lovely to give it a go and see where we're at.
On top of his Agility skills Tux is also having to work through his eye for Traffic moving so to watch him intently watching me and not the road brings me SO much joy ❤️
Say Cheese! 🧀
Oral hygiene is SO important in our dogs, they use their mouths not only to eat, but also to play, groom themselves and communicate, and dental issues can be very painful. Most insurance companies don't cover dental, so prevention is better than cure for your dog and your pocket!
I don't actually brush my dog's teeth 🤫 because they have a high quality food and lots of natural chews (not the processed ones which claim to be good for teeth but actually contain cereals which can cause build up 🤦🏼♀️) so all of their teeth are pretty good but Voodoo (at 12 and a half!) had a bit of plaque on the top of his canines causing the gum to start to recede and the same with one tooth at the back so I took him for his first EVER dental appointment! And looky look and those pearly whites ✨ (not bad when he's approaching 13!)
Thank you to Emily’s Groom Room for doing Voo's teeth today, he was in and out in less than 45mins and his tail was wagging both ways. 😁
Tux (just turned 6 months) is spending this wet Thursday learning to differentiate between his Right wing wrap cue 'Wrap' and his Left wing wrap cue 'LuLu' ('Tux' sounds like 'Touch', so his nose touch cue became 'Boop' which I then realised sounded like my 'Loop' cue 🤦🏼♀️) on just the verbals and my goodness.....I think he might have got it!
What's everyone else working on today?
It's National Puppy Day! And my puppy is looking less and less like a puppy! Can you believe Tux turned 6 months old yesterday?!
Let's see your puppies! (Head out the gutter you lot! 😉)
Tux (21 weeks) has been proofing his bed work/boundary understanding today. His value for his bed is pretty high but I've always been near him to immediately reward good choices, this is his first time holding position with me this far away AND with the distraction being the dogs he lives and regularly plays with.
This is an exercise of impulse control (an essential life skill and useful on an agility course!) and the start of my start line 'wait'.
Thank you everybody who ordered the Christmas Gift Boxes off of me! 🎁
I hope your dogs enjoyed their Turkey Necks today as much as mine did! (Tux had a duck neck as he's just a baby ❤️)
