Evolution Vets is an independent practice, founded in 2007 and based in beautiful rural Somerset. We are proud of our team and our practice and we are looking for someone like-minded who will enjoy their time with us, so that they too will be proud!

We are a 6 vet large animal practice with each of us having our own area of passion within our fantastic industry.

We have 2 main areas of work:
1) The Horses of Bridgwater, Taunton and the surrounding area.
2) The Dairy Herds of Somerset

We are looking for someone who primarily has an interest in ambulatory equine work (especially repro work) and is happy to occasionally get on farm to keep some variety.

The Role: This is a unique opportunity to develop in your own way; no small animal surgeries into the evening and no Saturday mornings.

The Kit: X-ray, dental kit, tendon scanner, shockwave therapy, gastroscope, repro scanners, Mastatest, various herd analysis software

The Team: All our team have been with us for some time, with ¾ of them having worked here for over 6 years. We have a fabulous, long-term practice manager who keeps the ship running smoothly as well as a support team who do just that. We also have an amazing Vet Tech whose passion for her job is unbeatable.

The Work: Our service is high-quality and personal- we have known and supported our clients for some years. All our vets have knowledge and experience. (cert holders, diploma- holders) and we encourage vets to develop in the areas that they enjoy, giving support as and when required. Furthermore, we try to use their skills to develop our business in a direction which suits them. We have regular clinical club meetings (with good lunch!) and the vets naturally support each other clinically and with their workload. From herd health, farm walks, farmer training on the farm side, to lameness work ups, gastroscope clinics, wound management and equine repro work on the equine side, we have a varied caseload!

The Area: The beautiful Quantock Hills in Somerset is our playground and we love it here!

The Perks: We finish at 4pm most days. Our other business is a gym and bouldering wall to which all our team get automatic unlimited free access. We encourage CPD and have no specific limit on this. There is long-service leave awarded from 3 years onwards. We have a 1 in 6 rota and our on call is definitely considered to be pretty quiet!

We would ideally like someone fulltime but this is open to discussion as we are pretty flexible.
You will have a large degree of clinical freedom, your own workspace which won’t be invaded by others(!), laptop, mobile, van etc.

This was one of the locations we tried out mobility scoring the cows on our last Mobility Scoring course. It's a practical course - learning and using videos in the morning, on farm putting it into practice in the afternoon. Then an evaluation test to qualify for inclusion on the Register of Mobility Scorers (roms.org.uk).
