The Bristol Paws Project

We are a volunteering/fundraising society made of vet and vet nurses from the University of Bristol🧡

🐾 The Bristol Paws Project is a volunteering and fundraising society that started in 2016

🧡 We are a group of veterinary and veterinary nursing students from the University of Bristol passionate about reducing the financial barriers to pet ownership and raising awareness about the benefits of the animal-human bond.

❓What do we do❓

➜ We work with many charities and organisations in the Bristo

l community who share the same vision as us. StreetVet, Bristol Outreach Services for the Homeless - BOSH, Bristol Animal Rescue centre and Caring in Bristol.

➜ We do regular outreaches with StreetVet, where our committee members join volunteer vets to provide essential pet care and supplies to those in need. We also work with Bristol Outreach Services for the Homeless (BOSH) where we hand out pet food and supplies to pet owners experiencing homelessness.

💬 We run educational talks throughout the year mainly based on shelter medicine and fundraisers to support the work we do and the charities we work with.

Are you interested in Animal Welfare and Charity Medicine? 🐾

Then Join us on Tuesday, 21st January 2025, at 7:15 pm for our second talk of the year!

The event is hosted by Bristol PAWs Project, and we are fortunate to be joined by the lead charity vet at Bristol ARC, Dr Damian Pacini, who collaborates with us each year for our vaccination drives. In this talk, Dr. Pacini will discuss key aspects of animal welfare, discussing on how veterinarians manage cases of neglect, cruelty, and how as vets we inspect a case!

With Christmas quickly around the corner our amazing team have been working hard this afternoon putting together some Christmas backpacks for and .🎄❄️🐾

They are filled with some lovely goodies kindly donated by , and . A massive thank you all round!!

Restocked! 🐾❄️
The supplies at the outreach were stocked up this Sunday with warm coats, canned food and harnesses.
These winter essentials will be going to the pet owners using BOSH services over the colder months.

2024 annual vaccine Drive 💉🐾

Thanks so much to for making this outreach a possibility and for all the amazing work you guys do throughout the year. Thank you to Celia from and the amazing Alison Blaxter as well as our committee members for volunteering the time to make this happen!

Each year, we are able to join BARC at one of their regular outreach centres, alongside Langford vet volunteers to make sure vaccinations are given to those on low income.

This is one of the many things we help set up using funds from our fundraisers, meaning we could pay for the vaccines and hall hire!

All our volunteers had an amazing time being able to perform clinical exams and administer vaccinations under the supervision of a vet. After having a training day held by Alison Blaxter in preparation. And as can be seen, we enjoyed our fair bit of doggie cuddles 🐶.

All funds go towards us being able to carry out all the work we do through the year. This includes regular outreach sessions with BOSH and StreetVet, Christmas backpacks, our annual vaccine Drive, and making sure we can do our best to be there who need it most throughout the year.

🧡 Thank you for an amazing year ~ from the PAWS society 🧡

Massive thank you to all the committee members who worked so hard this year and everyone who has supported our work and made it possible!!

It’s been a productive year of fundraising events, talks, working with our favourite charities and completing another year of our vaccine drives with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre and Christmas outreach backpack that we donated to Bristol Outreach Services for the Homeless and Caring in Bristol.

Hope everyone has a restful summer, we can’t wait for next year! 🤩

We’re having a talk this Tuesday by the Animal Welfare Foundation on the topic of puppy farming

Led by animal welfare expert Chris Laurence OBE QVRM TD BVSc FRCVS, this talk will cover different aspects of puppy farming, including: definitions, numbers, locations, legislation, the consequences of puppy farming, and what actions are needed to help tackle the issue. The talk will also include a case study around identifying and dealing with suspected cases of puppy farming in practice.

❤️ 2024 Charity Take Me Out ❤️

Thank you all to everyone that came!! Many thanks to Andy Grist for hosting, the committee members that organised this event and all the amazing contestants that took part 😙 Big thanks to Centaur Arms too 🍻

We managed to raise £940!!! 🥳 This will help us to continue our work in helping pet owners experiencing homelessness and also help fund our annual vaccine drive with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre, where we provide vaccines to low income families 🐾
