Wee Molly's Pals Dog Training and Pet Services

Wee Molly's Pals Dog Training and Pet Services June is a qualified dog training and behaviour coach, accredited by several education bodies. Do ask! My name is June Eaglesham.

I left a 23 year career in Social Housing in 2014 in order to become a dogwalker/pet carer etc - it was the right time for me and my family supported me through this massive change in lilfestyle etc. In summer 2016, I decided it was time to fully branch out on my own. I had already been training and educating myself on canine behaviour and psychology, now I wanted to be properly qualifed and be ab

le to really get to know the dog and guardian that I was dealing with, to help form plans to help them move forward together. The dog is at the centre of everything I do and my training allows the guardian to see their dog on a deeper level - this is essential to me. Every time a dog 'misbehaves', he is actually trying to tell you something or doesn't understand what you're trying to tell him. What you get from me, apart from experience and reliability is a genuine love for animals of all types. We have our wee dog Molly, a Cavapoo and gorgeous Shadow the rough collie, who joined us in June 20. We also have 2 cats - Darwin, the ginger ninja, and Lottie the Maine C**n. I am fully insured and licensed and have been trained in Canine First Aid. I am qualified and accredited with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, INTODogs, Canine Principles, National Institute for Canine Ethics, Pet Industry Advocacy International and the International Companion Animal Network and working towards being an ACE Trainer I also study with HeartDog Trainers, specialising in reactivity. I have been awarded the Scottish Enterprise Awards Best Ethical Dog & Owner Training and Behaviour Coach (West Lothian) 2023.

Poor lass is a bit under the weather today. She hadn't been ready for the vet yet, but needs must. Make sure your dogs are wormed!

Worms can cause serious issues in humans too, particularly if ingested in some way by children.

When you're in a rebellious mood and sit on the human end of the couch. 🀣

Seriously though, I was meant to go for a 'quiet' visit to the vet this week, just to see the surgery, and get weighed, but mum had to take me to get seen yesterday because she found a worm in a little bit of sick.

We are on the list to do the confidence classes, but this couldn't wait. I had had non-prescription flea and worming, so maybe this helped to start eliminate them from me, but now I have had proper medication. Thankfully there have been no fleas or mites.

Sorry this is a disgusting topic, but it's so important that your dogs are on the right medication, but the vet won't prescribe without giving them a check over first and check the weight to allow the right medication to be administered.

I was so nervous, that I poo'd myself in the surgery. But I stood on the scales by myself! Even though the male vet was lovely with me, I was still extremely scared.

I wore my muzzle, which we've been training, just in case, but I didn't react. I let my mum show my teeth and gums to the vet, he said they looked very well.

Worming and flea treatment are so important for your dog's wellbeing, and even though my first visit to the vet didn't go as it was meant to, it needed done.

I'm looking forward to the confidence classes. Again, an important part of being a responsible dog owner - many dogs really struggle with their vet visits.

Dayla's first big adventure. She's had a ball for her 1st birthday. Three weeks today she's been with us. We knew she was ready.

She was still nervous and there are examples of stress signals in the post's comments.

All went so well. πŸ’œ

I absolutely love this. Nearly 4 weeks in and Dayla's Diary is making so much progress. The video in the comments of the original post have a great display of play behaviour.

This lass is finally healing our hearts after losing Molly and teaching me a whole new level of patience. Letting yourself be taught by a dog is such a beautiful way to truly understand them.

Dayla had a bad spell last night, she was very restless in the early hours and ripped through our couch. We didn't give her a row - mainly because it would reinforce the negative emotions, but also because it was so out of character for her.

Her confusion about her emotions have meant she's been really depressed today, another phase of having a traumatised rescue.

Please do follow her diary, it will show the real ups and downs of her emotions and her progress and may help you to understand the whole process.

There are never straight lines when it comes to emotions. Dogs are extremely sentient and Dayla is very, very sensitive.

We will continue to show her the love and patience she needs, to help her recovery.

When you have a dog that overreacts in situations, that dog is likely to be suffering from pain or fear. My programme examines potential hidden pain, the emotions behind the reactions (which should NEVER be punished - the dog is scared) and how we can overcome these issues to have a happier dog.

Reactivity is a complex mental health issue that takes time to overcome, and left untreated will only become more severe over time, which takes its toll on your dog emotionally and physically - it is no different from us suffering chronic anxiety and/or other mental health conditions. The more it is left, the harder it becomes to reverse how your dog feels about their triggers. There is a lot of work involving patience and commitment.

Luckily I am here to help!! Please contact me for a free short discovery call and follow up consultation now!

AS A BONUS, I AM OFFERING 20% OFF MY REACTIVITY PROGRAMMES, BOTH ONLINE AND IN PERSON, NOW (not including consultation) AND UNTIL 30TH APRIL!!

We are all affected by the cost of living crisis, but helping your dog recover should never be ignored - we go to the doctor when we're unwell, dogs can't make that choice for themselves, so let it happen!

You and your dog will enjoy each session, which comes with handouts, workbooks, over 100 videos and a training tracker, as well as my knowledge and experience. Sessions are fun, informative, and will give you the skills to carry on.

The moral of this is be prepared for everything and always be your dog's eyes and ears when working on confidence.

There will always be bad experiences, no matter how much progress you think you've made when building your dog's confidence. Dayla's only been with us for 7 days and had her first traumatic experience with us. For a young girl already so fearful, this was a big thing. She's now in her crate decompressing.

Trainers are always learning too - my heart has just about slowed down to normal rate, hopefully Dayla's is too.

Hi , glad to be properly glad to be back, health issues have calmed down for the moment! However, I am limiting my training at the moment as we have a new addition to the household.

I've created a little page for Dayla, if you'd like to follow it.

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558130095540

Dayla is afraid of men in particular, but gets on well with other dogs and cats. It will take her some time to settle, but she will come out of her shell, however long it takes. We're smitten.

Please allow us some patience at this time. Training will be done on weekends or evenings.

Thank you!

Dogs being punished for being dogs. 😒

Dogs never allowed to sniff, chase, chew, dig, explore, forage, make friends, bark at stuff...

Dogs being fed foods that influence their behaviour. Then being blamed for that behaviour.

Dogs being dragged around. Dogs pulled along, or held back. Or je**ed continuously by the neck.

Dogs who are mishandled, or 'firmly' handled. Or simply physically handled to teach them something.

Dogs being made to do stuff they really don't want to do with their own bodies.

Dogs with little autonomy. Dogs with few choices.

Dogs who are heavily restricted.

Dogs spending much of their lives in small, unnatural confines.

Dogs being manipulated, forced, bullied or bribed into difficult or uncomfortable situations.

Dogs trying hard to understand what's expected of them. Dogs doing their very best to rub along with another species.

Dogs living with humans who have ridiculously high expectations of them.

Dogs being expected to tolerate anything and everything we throw at them.

Dogs who are grabbed, poked, pulled, pinched, squeezed, or sat on.

Dogs being held down. Or physically manipulated into a certain position.

Dogs being hugged. Dogs being touched in any way, when they don't want to be touched.

Dogs being crowded. Dogs prevented from leaving an uncomfortable situation.

Dogs used as photo props, or to make stupid videos for laughs and likes.

Dogs being coerced.

Dogs being intimidated. Dogs being threatened.

Dogs having their space invaded.

Dogs not being heard.

Dogs being shut down and ignored.

Dogs actually being punished for attempting to communicate with us. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

Bless their beautiful hearts. They put up with so much nonsense from us.

Their stoicism should never be taken for granted. We really shouldn't be taking advantage of their ability to put up with so much crap. 😱

Seriously, when you consider how many millions of dogs live alongside humans, it's literally mind-blowing to think how few of them actually bite anyone! πŸ™

Dogs. Are. Literally. Incredible. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸΎπŸ’œ

Just a reminder that from yesterday, 23rd Feb, ALL XL Bullies must be muzzled and leashed in Scotland.

I cannot stress enough that XLs and ALL dogs need kind methods when training. Using aversive tools like chokes, half chokes, ecollars, slipleads only breaks the trust your dog has with you and it can contribute to fear aggression, or learned helplessness. And yanking a dog will generally cause them to yank back - laws of physics...

These tools are generally used as quick fixes by people and trainers as being choked in that moment obviously stops the behaviour for a few seconds, but DOES NOT teach the dog what you want from them - they have NO idea why you just throttled them! Yanking and choking isn't what you want to do to your dog! You may even hear people say that they don't hurt if used properly - not true - just because they are on their 'stoppers', doesn't mean a dog knows not to pull! Retailers are excellent at marketing these awful tools.

The ONLY ethical way to teach a dog to stop pulling is to teach them not to - that takes time and effort. Just like children being taught in small increments throughout their school life, dogs need the same. Patience, predictability, and consistency are all absolutely key.

I've posted regularly and shared medical and scientific information about putting aversives round a dog's neck and the issues it can cause - thorax, optic nerves and tissue damage are only 3 of the long term, very painful issues.

Just because it has never happened to your dog (that you're aware of), doesn't make it right - be smart, be informed and enjoy your dog!!

Our Story

Hi, I’m June Eaglesham. I left a 23 year career in Social Housing in 2014 in order to become a dogwalker/pet carer etc - it was the right time for me and my family supported me through this massive change in lifestyle etc. In summer 2016, I decided it was time to fully branch out on my own. What you get from me, apart from experience and reliability is a genuine love for animals of all types. I’m based in Winchburgh, West Lothian, with my husband, Simon and daughter, Eva. We live with our wee dog and my permanent sidekick, Molly (your dog must be able to be friendly with Molly!), a beautiful rehomed Maine C**n called Lottie, a little ginger ninja called Darwin, an African Pygmy Hedgehog called Reggie and a tank of tropical fish. I am fully insured and licensed and have been trained in Canine First Aid.

I am a qualified member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers and am currently working towards a Canine Coaching Diploma with Canine Principles. I provide the following services: Puppy socialisation and life skills classes/puppy and dog training 121 service. Dogwalking (group or solo walks) Doggy hotel (up to 2 dogs at a time, personalised experience, living in our home as a member of the family). Pop-Ins (cats, fish etc. Also pups, in heat bi***es) Small pet boarding Pet taxi (to vet/groomer etc) I also work with other dogwalkers in the surrounding area to ensure my holidays are covered.
