Back to work just little early with the first exploration walk of 2024! Unfortunately we didnโt get our planned one before Christmas so it was lovely to get the dogs together again, everyone did great!
1:1โs, usual group walks and classes return as of Monday! ๐
What a lovely mild morning it is ๐ As today is New Yearโs Eve there wonโt be any more posts from Kina and I, until 2024 ๐. A little reminder to everyone that just because fireworks are legal tonight from 6pm, doesnโt mean everyone adheres to this. Best to get your dogs out early and/or away from the town & spend some time in the evening doing some brain games to tide them over.
Our 2024 Sale went live yesterday and will stay available until the 8th of January, this is pinned to the top of my page for anyone who hasnโt seen it!
On behalf of Kina and I, Have a Happy New Year & lang may yer lum reek ๐
Wishing all our clients- past and present- a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope you are all spoiled by Santa ๐
and will see you all in 2024!
I am now signing off until January 8th when 1:1 clients, group walks and classes will return as normal. If you are looking to get booked in the new year please message me over the festives with โ2024 bookingโ at the start of your message and I will get back to you as quickly as I can.
Merry Christmas!

๐พ Monty ๐พ
Tried & failed to post this earlier today. Today was the second session with Monty to see how his lead manners were going. Though we still have a ways to go until we have a solid behaviour, his pulling has decreased massively and his owners will get to enjoy Christmas with both arms ๐
๐CHARITY RAFFLE ๐
Couldnโt get it to work live so here is the recording for the raffle draw, congratulations Diane Schoolar!
Please pop me a message and weโll organise delivering your prize box ๐
Thank you to everyone who entered and every business who donated a service/product to the raffle, we were able to raise a total of ยฃ205.00 for D.A.W.G.S (Dog Action Working Group Scotland)SCIO which is being transferred now ๐
Class
We train all ages and breeds at think pawsitive dog training classes - even Meerkats๐คฃ
S O L D O U T ๐ฑ
Iโve tried to be fair and sold these on a first to message basis, if anyone changes their mind the box would be offered to the next person who messaged โบ๏ธ
๐พ Christmas Snack Treat Boxes ๐พ
I had a lot of little boxes to make use of and thought what better way than little ยฃ5.00 snack boxes for owners to buy their furry family members this Christmas! ๐๐
gift wrapped for your convenience ๐!
The items inside are randomised per box but inside you may find; pigs ears, basa skins, duck feet, beef tails, pork snouts or pork sausages ๐
Only 11 available! ๐
Nearly stole this lovely little lad ๐ ๐ก โฌ๏ธ
Working line pointer puppy! With this breed you have to be willing to put the effort into meeting his breed needs and teaching how how to use his natural pointing ability ๐
Conditioning
On Friday I noticed that Kina was a little twitchy in her back muscles during a massage and wasnโt keen to have her right rear hip stretched. Since then weโve been doing lots of extra massage and stretching with particular focus on that area. On top of this we can do positional exercises to encourage free movement, rear end awareness and self-stretching. A pivot box or step can help with this as you can encourage the dog to find the position using rear legs only.
This video is after doing some normal pivot work where I noticed she always swings in from the right, so I set us up where she couldnโt go in from the right. She needed a bit of a pressure guide to work her legs round initially but from the first attempt to the last attempt that session you can see a physical difference in her willingness and ability to shuffle round from the left โบ๏ธ
Youโll only notice differences in your dogs movements if you are frequently doing something with them to have a normal comparison ๐
*excuse the floor, itโs molting season๐*
๐พ Exploration Social Walk ๐พ
Another good walk for the group today, all males with the exception of Kina. We introduced older manny Oscar to the group and he did even better than expected, everyone was very respectful while interacting and we had a couple of learning moments for the dogs that will benefit them in social settings going forward ๐
๐พ Friday Classes ๐พ
Todayโs classes learned about the benefits of massage and teaching heelwork with their dogs. Unfortunately as the classes were very hands on I wasnโt able to get many videos (none of the massage group) but everyone did super! ๐คฉ๐
*apologise if this is a duplicate post, canโt find the one I tried to post earlier*
๐พ Meet Roo ๐พ
This little guy has only been with his owners a little over a month and is doing well. He does need some help learning how to walk on a lead and how to recall, both of which we started today. Looking forward to seeing how he gets on ๐
๐พ Ozzy & Lenny ๐พ
Been a few weeks since I saw these two so we had a bit of work to catch up on. Lenny has recently decided to refuse to walk on most leads so we restarted getting him to move while on the lead, which he did no bother with and after a few days of consistent work should be a thing of the past. With Ozzy we were getting him used to a figure of 8 to help calm him on walks as usually itโs back legs and lots of barking๐ what a difference today just getting him focused and calmer. Not a peep from him ๐
Classes
๐พ Friday classes ๐พ
Today was the first of the Friday classes, starting our 1.30pm group off with some simple following. Some of these dogs have attended training with me either in other classes or have never attended training so we start with simple engagement and build on the dogs skills from here.
Everyone did really well for the first time together ๐คฉ๐
- still a couple spaces in my Friday 2pm class, starting next week!
Bailey
๐พ Bailey ๐พ
Final puppy session with Bailey today (just me and her), and another win for the Wild Piccolo collars!๐คฉ
Todays session we were working a little more on lead work and recall to the whistle, as Bailey doesnโt have her own collar yet I put one of my demo collars on her to continue training. WELL, turns out little Bailey still has some work to do around loud noises and big trucks. Just as we were starting to head back the bin lorry came up behind us and gave Bailey a scare, had she been on a normal flat collar or even a harness there are no doubts in my mind she would have gotten free of her lead. BUT with the safety of the martingale collar, she was unable to slip her collar meaning I was able to get Bailey home safely ๐ฅฐ
Bailey did super well with the lead work and whistle pre-bin lorry though & now I know what more work needs done ๐
๐พ Heidi ๐พ
Sometimes training looks a little weird, especially when we are working with things that many dogs donโt worry about. Heidi gets very stressed in winter from fireworks (making great progress on this!) and what we thought was twinkly lights. Our session today has proven that lights arenโt a big problem for her but we did the fun conditioning none the less.
Next stop, tackling the tree ๐๐
Artie
๐พ Meet Artie ๐พ
Little Artie took part in my classes last year and has turned into a lovely little lad with very dedicated owners. He does have typical terrier impulse issues around good scents and other dogs so we introduced a little help today that will make communicating easier while offlead and keep him safe โบ๏ธ
He absolutely smashed it and was super enthusiastic for some beef ๐ฅฉ ๐
๐พ Exploration Walk ๐พ
New location for our walk today walking the Spey viaduct. This was a different game for the dogs as it was busier and we had to stop and get their attention more often, they got to spend some time in the water and duck hunting in the woods near the spay (no ducks were hurt ๐ฆ).
Well matched group again! ๐
๐พ Bailey ๐พ
Second session with puppy Bailey, today we were working with granny so we chose something that we could work on but that could also be videoed and sent to her owner for practice. Leave and wait are important for dogs to learn young and especially dogs with Baileys impulse problems (quite normal for pups), she caught on quite quickly to what I was looking for and even started physically shuffling back away from the item with both โwaitโ and โleaveโ.
Clever girl Bailey! ๐
