It is open 7 days a week for consults by appointment, and runs our 24hr emergency service. Meadowbank in Northop is our 2nd practice, appointments Mon to Fri, mornings and afternoons, also pain clinics, acupuncture, K-Laser therapy and surgical procedures. Village Vets in Mancot is our 3rd practice, appointments Mon to Fri, mornings and afternoons. ALL practices are covered with our 24hr emergency service.

Luna's owners brought her in 2 weeks ago for being under the weather and having collapsing episodes, Luna was diagnosed by the team with a condition called Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia. Luna's condition means her body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys its own red blood cells, leading to anaemia. Luna was given a blood transfusion with the help of . She has been improving and under close monitoring by her owners and the team. She is a lovely girl with a happy wagging tail. We wish luna all the best and hope she's feeling well again soon 💕💕🐾

Yesterday was handsome Jim's 11th birthday 🎊
Jim has spent a lot of time with the team, having a few stays as an inpatient and was very poorly. We are always happy to see Jim and his family and it was nice to see him yesterday for a @ nurse check with nurse Alex. 💙

This lovely boy is Marshall. His owners have kindly let us share his story with you.

Marshall presented to us with a history of vomiting and some bloody diarrhoea. His abdominal palpitation was found to be abnormal so we took an x-Ray showing his stomach looked unusual and was consistent with potential foreign body (circled)

His owner gave us permission to perform an ex-laparotomy where we opened his stomach (gastrotomy) and removed a total of 18 hair bobbles and some plastic from his stomach!

Marshall recovered well after surgery and is now home recuperating with his family. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope his bobble eating days are behind him 💙

☀ Sunscreen and pets ☀
Its best to minimise pets to UV exposure by avoiding the sun between 10am and 3pm by keeping pets inside. If not possible sunscreen can be used to protect pets skin like humans.
🐾There are specifically created sun lotions for pets.
🐾 Apply sunscreen liberally and re-apply regularly during sun exposure.
🐾 Some baby / child sunscreens may be safe for pets, avoid human sunscreens that have ingestion warnings, as they contain ingredients that can be toxic if licked by your pet.
🐾 Avoid sunscreens that contain Zinc oxide and para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) as these are toxic if ingested.
🐾 Remember most windows do not filter UV rays, so pets basking in the sun indoors can get sunburnt. monitor your pets and apply sun cream.
🐾 There are UV protective clothing or sunsuits available for pets.

Cases are seen frequently in unvaccinated dogs in the UK. All dogs are at risk regardless of their age, breed and lifestyle and there is often a spike in cases after local flooding.

Yearly vaccinations throughout life is the best way to protect your dog and reduce the spread. Check with us if your dog's vaccinations are up to date.

Our Story

Village Vets was set up by Andy and James in 2002, with the aim to provide high quality veterinary care in the North Wales region. Nikki joined them as clinical director in 2016, after many years as a senior vet on our team. Today we have 4 RCVS accredited small animal practices, with our main hospital branch based in Buckley, and supporting surgeries in Meadowbank (Mold), Mancot and Childer Thornton.

We offer consultations and surgical procedures by appointment, along with a range of services to support our clients- Hydrotherapy, Laser Therapy and Weight Clinics to name a few. We are also able to provide advanced surgical care through North Wales Referrals, and our surgeon Tom Roberts. With visiting specialists and continual staff training, we offer our clients a comprehensive range of options in keeping their pets healthy. As a Tier 3 Hospital we monitor our patients 24hrs, with appointments for emergencies on Saturday and Sunday mornings. We use a dedicated out of hours emergency service, to ensure there is always help available when needed.
