Today marks the day that the care of our farm clients transfers over to LLM Farm Vets Lancashire following that of our equine clients to Aireworth Vets Equine earlier in April, as a team we would like to offer our sincere gratitude to all of our clients for their loyalty and commitment over the years.

I am sure that our lovely clients would also like to join me in saying a massive thank you to the whole staff team at Stanley House Veterinary Group - Farm and Equine for their support, dedication and care.

The decision to join forces with the other vet practices was to be able to offer not only a better service to our clients but also give our wonderful team of staff a better work life balance, although it is ultimately the end of an era it is also a time of new beginnings.

We would like to wish our staff and clients over the years all the very best for a happy and healthy future

Best wishes
David, Helen, Catherine, Christine, Hannah, Alyce, Lindsey, Sue and Sarah ###

Spring laminitis alert! ❗❗❗

As the weather warms up, be extra vigilant for signs of laminitis in your horses. The lush, sugary grass can increase the risk of this painful condition, especially in ponies and horses prone to metabolic issues.

Watch for:
Lameness, particularly in the front feet
Heat in the hooves
A digital pulse or sensitivity to touch

If you spot any of these signs, contact your vet immediately for prompt care. Preventive measures like limiting grazing and managing weight can help reduce the risk.

Keep your horse safe this spring!

If you see any of these signs, please phone us immediately on 01282 868748

❌Spring Alert: Poisonous plants, trees and hedges for horses ❌

As spring blooms across the UK, it’s a perfect time to be aware of potential risks posed by certain plants in your horse’s pasture. Here are some plants to watch out for that could be harmful to your horse.

Signs of poisoning include:
Loss of appetite
Drooling
Lethargy or weakness
Difficulty standing or walking

What can you do?
Regularly inspect pastures and remove known poisonous plants
Avoid overgrazing to prevent horses from eating harmful plants
Keep an eye out for any new plant growth in your fields

If you suspect your horse has eaten something toxic, contact your vet immediately. We're here to help!
