I have really enjoyed looking after Bella for the last couple of weeks.🐾

Bella is a Romanian rescue who is nervous around new people, so it has taken a lot of time and patience to build the trust up with her.

I have learnt so much from her, which will hopefully help me when I get international rescues coming for training.

A great dog trainer never stops learning more about dogs❤️

Beautiful girl Ginny came for a 121 this evening🩷💜🩷

Leonie O'Donoghue

Her owners wanted help with times when she is excited because she is very sociable and just wants to be everybody's friend. This also resulted in jumping up and she is a big girl!

We taught Ginny a settle (or an 'off switch' as I like to call it) and then did some working teaching an alternative for Ginny, so she isn't practising the jumping up behaviour.

Ginny did amazing! I also love seeing families really proud of their dogs progress training.🥰

Give Dogs Their Space! 🚧🐾

💡Teach children to respect a dog’s personal space.

Just like people, dogs need personal space too! 🐶🚧
Some dogs love attention, while others need a little more room to feel safe.

Teach children to follow these golden rules:

🚫 No chasing dogs if they walk away
🚫 No climbing or sitting on dogs
🚫 Let sleeping dogs lie!

Instead get the children to build a safe den that your dog can go to, if they need space, with lots of things your dog loves in there.

A happy dog is a safe dog! 💙🐾

DAY 4 OF ENRICHMENT 💫Training Sessions! Teaching your dog new tricks or behaviours is a great way to mentally challenge them while strengthening your bond. Keep them short and positive-most importantly have fun with your sessions!🐾 Note: make sure you are using reward-based training! This is scientifically proven to be the best way and is ethical. Using aversive tools or punishment will only cause problems in the long run and damage that bond with your loved member of the family😊 www.paws-ontraining.co.uk

DAY 2 OF ENRICHMENT! 💫Scent Games! Dogs have a powerful sense of smell, and games like hiding treats or toys for them to find help fulfil their natural desire to sniff and explore. 🙈This is just a selection of books about dogs and training I have! My husband asks me everytime a new dog book is delivered have I not got enough already...the answer is no! 😂 Having dogs for years, or lots of experience with dogs previously is simply not enough! ❤️Great dog trainers are always keen to stay updated with the best and latest, evidence based methods. I have to continue updating my knowledge and evidence this to remain a member of the APDT! I am very passionate about my dog training and that's what you get when you book with me...a HUGE DOG GEEK 🤓
