Jake has been living in the garden of a kind lady for months. He’s very friendly and he definitely did have a home at some point. She did her absolute best to get help, from checking if he’s microchipped to advertising him on social media, next door and on paper posters. All this has been done while she’s been trying to get rescue space for him at any charity in a hundred mile radius, happy to drive him to wherever he could be helped.

Two months later, mindful of the fact that he is NOT NEUTERED, therefore he’s creating more problems by producing kittens, we helped, despite of not being local, not having the space for him and not having the funds to pay. We asked the lady to approach the national charity who has neutering the strays as their number one principle, but they declined to pay the vets for the neutering procedure of the stray.
This is the sort of situation we have to deal with non stop, and the problem is constantly being pushed onto individuals.

Long story short, we went half with costs with Animal Support Angels and had Jake neutered, microchipped, FIV/FeLV blood tested and flea and worm treated with veterinary grade products. He’s now back on the street, or to be precise, he’s living in his feeder’s shed. We will take him on, but right now he stinks incredibly and he will stink like this for another two weeks, because that’s the case when cats are not being neutered (that’s an ignorant and backward owner scenario, and these people are always scum). Not that we even have the space, but I can’t have him running around my living room like this-simple as that.

Meanwhile:
We are looking for a home for Jake with access to the garden.
Jake is 3 years old, he’s very cute, he’s healthy and he will come with 4 weeks pet insurance and veterinary history. We will vaccinate him prior to the adoption. He is a lovely and friendly cat, he doesn’t bite and he’s good with other cats.
Pre adoption house check and adoption fee applies. The adopter will have an opportunity to meet Jake here in Bushey (Watford) prior to the adoption.

If you are interested in offering Jake a home, please fill up our adoption application form:

*** FOR ADOPTION *** INDOOR KITTENS ***

We are looking for an experienced adopter for our kittens Shannon and Sangria. The girls came to us mid September with their mums just after they were born.

Shannon (tabby) is skittish and she needs someone who knows how to handle her. She’s only a baby and she will be fine, but when she came into our care we had to use eye drops on her, and now she’s a bit weary of humans due to this association. We are currently teaching her how to be cuddly and she’s doing really well, but she is the reason why she needs a confident adopter.

Sangria (ginger) is a bulletproof, very easy, well socialised, gentle and happy girl, who approaches everyone with an open heart. She loves cuddles, she is purring non stop and she’s a lap cat. She’s a social butterfly and a perfect kitten.

The girls are not sisters, they are cousins, maybe step-sisters. Their mums Cassie and Dora were living in someone’s garden and they got pregnant at the same time. The kittens were together since birth and they are very bonded.

The girls have been raised having full access to the house. They are perfectly healthy and they are on the highest quality food (Katkin, PurrForm, Animonda, Mac’s etc) to ensure healthy development. We are looking for an adopter who will continue the high standard of care.

We are an INDOOR cat rescue and we are looking for indoor homes for our cats, with windows, balcony/garden SECURED with cat proof netting a catio. (Please don’t contact us if you’re planning to “never open the windows” for the next two decades.)

Our cats are being offered for adoption:
-fully vaccinated including leukaemia vaccine
-microchipped
-neutered
-flea and worm treated with veterinary grade products
-they come with 4 weeks insurance policy
-they are negative on FIV/FeLV viruses

The adopter needs to be knowledgeable in:
-species appropriate diet
-behavioural and environmental needs of a cat
-have an idea of veterinary cost.

If you are renting, you need to have a written permission from your landlord that you are allowed to keep two cats at their property.

Pre adoption house check and adoption fee applies.

Should you be interested in adopting from us, please fill up our adoption form, paying particular attention to the BRANDS of food you intend to feed the cat and to the information on HOW is the property prepared for an indoor cat:

https://bushytailcataid.com/cat-adoption-questionnaire/

Shannon and Sangria are being fostered in Bushey (Watford) and the adopter will be able to meet them and to spend time with them prior to the adoption.

Please only contact us if you are ready to adopt within up to 14 days.
Please note that we are aware that female ginger kittens generate high interest, but we are unable to separate the girls as we need to prioritise their welfare and their needs.
Due to Shannon being skittish, they are not suitable for a home with children or dogs. They are absolutely fine with other cats and they make friends easily. They are currently being fostered with cats of all ages and they can respect their boundaries.

The girls are only available as a pair, and only to an indoor home. They are currently 5 months old.

Thank you!

Exploring! The dog crate is only used for their feral mums for one night before neutering to be able to catch the feral cat on time for the vet appointment and to starve them prior to the surgery and 1-3 nights after for recovery and for administering Metacam. We never use dog crates to actually keep cats in, it’s barbaric and backwards.

End of September, when Sangria, Shannon and Dublin arrived in our care with their mums Pandora and Cassandra. They have all now been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and they are negative for FIV and leukaemia viruses.

04/02/2025

Shannon is learning to purr when stroked by a human. ☺️ I’ve found her cuddled up to one of our senior kitties and quietly and slowly I started stroking her. We do this every day, and each day brings progress. She’s no longer hiding, she’s spending her days in the living room and her nights in the bedroom, where humans are. Baby steps for our baby girl, but they will improve the quality of her life massively.

25/01/2025

Cassie yesterday. A small improvement now that she’s comfortable enough to eat the food with an antibiotic hidden in it. Still feral but she stopped running for dear life when seeing a human, so there is small progress.

25/01/2025

Cassandra. It’s not easy to medicate a feral cat, and her breathing has been pretty much like this for a few weeks. We can’t vaccinate her either, because she’s on a course of antibiotics.

***Shannon*** an indoor kitten.
Little troublemaker, a skittish monkey that needs to be grabbed in order to kiss and cuddle her! She’s hard work, but we are ensuring she’s adoptable, as being friendly is pretty much her only chance to have a happy future.
Shannon is going to be neutered next week and she’s pretty much ready to go to her forever home, depending on the experience of the adopter.
We don’t rehome kittens to single cat households, but she can be adopted with another kitten from us or as an additional kitten to an existing young cat at home.
She’s harmless and she doesn’t bite, we just had to do eye drops on her a month ago and now she doesn’t like us. 🙈

*** ADOPTED ***
🐈‍⬛ Pandora 🐈‍⬛
Gorgeous, fluffy girl, under one year old, and sadly feral. She is spending winter with us, where it’s always warm and safe. It will take months for Dora to be comfortable around humans, but she does have a full reign of the house. She is slowly learning to trust us and she’s great with the other cats in our care.

Pandora has been neutered, microchipped, flea and worm treated with veterinary grade products and we’ve had blood test done for her on FIV and leukaemia viruses (she’s negative on both). She just needs to be vaccinated, but we haven’t got the funds to cover this right now.

Pandora came to us with her gorgeous sister Cassandra and they can be adopted together or separately. They are both hard work and they need an experienced adopter. They were born in someone’s garden but the lady just fed them all, without taming them or neutering them, and the consequences of this are: unadoptable little lives plus the feral kittens that they gave birth to. Months of volunteers time and thousands of pounds in cost-standard for these scenarios.

Pandora and all of our cats are being fostered in Bushey (Watford) and they are available for adoption to an indoor home.

***ADOPTED***INDOOR KITTENS***

These brothers have spent their entire lives in their foster home. At some point we were so disheartened with the fruitless search for a home for them that we attempted to rehome them separately. But… we live with them and we see how bonded they are. They find each other everywhere and they always sleep together. It’s just not an option to break this bond, because it will break their hearts.

They are happy, gentle, healthy and perfect boys and we are astounded how incredibly ignorant some people are contacting us about adopting our feral ginger or bengal looking cats at the same time expecting a lap cat, but these boys are invisible. And they are the very definition of perfection. The environment they grew up in taught them that humans equals cuddles and kisses and their human-cat bond is a fundamental factor in how they go about life. Our older, resident cats taught them boundaries. They were taught to not to scratch or bite in their natural habitat learning feline behaviour from other felines. This is what makes them ideal pets. This, and not their fur colour!

Here’s the information about the pair:

Dario and Iggy are brothers, born on 28/03/24. They were raised with their mum in home environment, with full access to the house. They are well socialised, gentle and happy kids, who approach everyone with an open heart, ready to play. They have grown up on the highest quality food (Katkin, PurrForm, Animonda, Mac’s etc) to ensure their healthy development. They are under private veterinary care. We are looking for an adopter who will continue the high standard of care for these kittens.

We are an INDOOR cat rescue and we are looking for indoor homes for our cats, with windows, balcony/garden SECURED with cat proof netting/catio etc.

Our cats are being offered for adoption:

PS. Please note that we cannot respond to every single message, this is a voluntary based rescue and unfortunately we do not have paid staff to personally address each individual person.

Cassie (ginger), Dora (black) and the little tabby Shannon awaiting breakfast this morning!
The big girls are feral, and the kitten is skittish, but we are working on them and they will be fine. Shannon is generally fine but because we had to do eye drops on her, she is now weary of us and we need to grab her for cuddles and smooches. We will be booking neutering for her next week and she will be available for adoption mid January. Cassandra and Pandora are available now, but these two will take months to gain trust.

*** INDOOR KITTENS ***

Shannon, (the sister of little Dublin, who passed away two months ago) is going to be available for adoption early January, once she’s been neutered. She needs to be adopted in pair with any of our other kittens.

As with all of our cats, we are looking for an indoor home for her and the adopter will need to have the property prepared for an indoor cat, so she wouldn’t fly out of the window, and we also ask that the future cat parent is knowledgeable on feline diet (recognising the difference between garbage 4% meat „food” and species approaching meat content diet is very important for us).

Shannon will go to her new home: fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, flea and worm treated with veterinary grade products. She is FIV/FeLV negative, she comes with full veterinary history and 4 weeks pet insurance.

Shannon and all of our kittens are being fostered in Bushey (Watford) and the adopter will have a chance to meet the gang before adopting them.

If you are interested in adopting TWO indoor kittens from us, please fill out the form:
