On Thursday evening I had a cat medical emergency. I rushed to Noah's Ark Veterinary Clinic who dealt with a very panicky and upset me in the most professional, kind and empathetic way I have ever experienced from a vet.

They took charge quickly and investigated with urgency. Unfortunately, the elderly cat had a previously unknown heart condition and a blood clot had formed in her spine cutting off circulation to her rear legs. It was not a happy ending.

All of the team at Noah’s Ark were amazing but especially the vet Rebecca who stayed with me whilst I sobbed and allowed me to stay well after closing time which was 7pm.

On Friday morning, as I reflected on the evening before and how upsetting the medical emergency was, I felt grateful to the vet and wanted to show it.

The lovely Lisa of Fleur de Lis Florists delivered a beautiful arrangement of flowers to Noah’s Ark on my behalf. I’m sure you will agree they are stunning.

So thank you again to Rebecca and all of the team at Noah’s Ark and Lisa for the beautiful 🌸

I have been fortunate in the last 10 years of cat sitting not to have dealt with a situation like this, it was a matter of time and I guess I have been lucky. It pains me to see any living being suffer. This broke my heart. I sobbed but I stayed with her every moment.

Calling all dog owners! Join us on the 10th for a fun dog show and fete! All raising money for NAWT Rescue and Rehoming centres.
Plenty of stalls and activities for everyone - dog owner or not! Bring the kids as we have children's games and activities also.

Imagine getting a magazine through the door and a photo of the Town Mayor is on the inside cover and that photo is you!

It is still surreal but wow I’m so proud!

When I look back at where I came from, what I went through and where I am now it feels bonkers that I made it this far - and in one piece! I never imagined being a Mayor. Ever. 🩷

Thank you to all that have held me to get here, especially my husband Bart.

Thank you to every single person that has supported me, I felt it 🙏

I love this town. I love the people.

Dunstable Town Council is amazing too - every person that works at DTC cares about what they do. We are very, very lucky.

Hello June!

On June 10th 2024 it will be mandatory for all cats to be microchipped before they reach 20 weeks old.

This will affect all of us; are your microchip details up to date? It’s a good time to check.

Having a microchip has helped to reunite so many with their beloved furry family member. If you have any issues with getting a chip, there are resources available to help. Just give me a shout and I can help you to find them.

The GOV has announced that microchipping is to become a legal requirement for cats, with penalties of up to £500 for those who fail to comply.

I know I have been quiet over the last few months.

Things became overwhelming and I had to take a step back since being elected as a councillor and Deputy Mayor.

But I just wanted to share that I was recently made Mayor of Dunstable. This is a great privilege and I’m honoured to have been selected to fill the role until May 2025.

I hope you are all as proud as I am 🙏
