The end of an era…… we moved from Hill Housd and The Barn at Hill House last Thursday. Six and a half years of guests through the Barn. Lots of happy memories and lovely people enjoying their stay with us.
We are very grateful to our lovely Girl Fridays, Sally and Kate, who helped us do changeovers. Thank you lovely ladies. It was great working with you and you made Fridays much less rushed and stressful for us.
Thanks also to our guests. Many returning year after year.
We wish the new owners Don and Lynne Sutherland all the very best for the future. They will only be taking bookings through Sykes Cottages for the foreseeable future so check out the Barn on Sykescottages.co.uk in a week or so.
We have been very privileged to have met so many lovely people through the Barn.

We are delighted to announce that, unless the Government changes its mind, the Barn will be re-opening from the beginning of July after being closed for more than three months.
We are normally fully booked at this time of year but we do have availability because a number of guests who had booked have, quite understandably, cancelled or postponed their visits. Check our website www.thebarnathillhouse.co.uk for details.
We are taking a number of steps to ensure your safety and ours whilst the pandemic continues. These include:
• Until the end of August we are only accepting bookings on alternate weeks so that the Barn can remain empty for at least 72 hours before and after we clean it;
• We are upgrading our already thorough cleaning regime in line with Government guidelines; and
• All linen, including mattress and pillow protectors, will be given a hot wash and will not be re-used for at least one month. However, if you would prefer to use your own linen that is fine with us.
We are looking forward to welcoming old friends and new ones. We’ve missed you!

The Barn at Hill House is part of a 300-year old stone built former farm house situated in the village of Elkstones in the Southern Dales area of the Peak District National Park.

We don’t actually see the sun set ..... we’re on the wrong side of the hill for that..... but fabulous skies tonight after a glorious day.
Don’t miss out on spending Christmas at the Barn. You might even see a snowy sunrise. We can’t guarantee the skies but you will have a Christmas to remember.

We have had some amazing weather here in the last few days. This morning I saw a butterfly on a snowdrop! My bees are out in the sunshine too. Our season is in full swing and we are exceptionally busy. The Barn at Hill House is practically fully booked from April to July although we have had an unexpected cancellation for the week beginning 19th April. The price for this week, with direct booking discount is £760.

Happy New Year! We are coming to the end of what has been a very successful year at The Barn at HIll House and will be closing The Barn until 8th February. We have met some lovely people and have been pleased to welcome many returning guests. Heavenly Hot Tubs in Uttoxeter. They will set up the hot tub and it will be ready for you to use when you arrive at The Barn at Hill House. Just to add to your experience of a little piece of heaven above a hectic world.

For those of you who missed our post last weekend and don't want to miss out on a bargain break in a beautiful location....

We are very pleased to be able to also offer another property in our lovely village of Elkstones. The delightful Susan Cottage has views over the pretty “Secret Valley” which can be enjoyed from the outside seating area. It offers open plan living downstairs including a bed settee in the living area. There is a double bedroom and landing area with a sofa which can be converted into a ¾ bed. The downstairs shower room and kitchen are newly refurbished. There is an oven, hob and fridge with freezing compartment in the kitchen.
As Susan Cottage is only 300 metres from The Barn at Hill House it can be booked as an add-on to The Barn if your party is more than 8 or it can be booked completely independently. We are offering discounted rates for the rest of the summer. From now until the end of August a weekend booking (3 nights, Friday to Monday) will be £250 and a full week will be £350. It's 2 years today since we welcomed our first visitors to The Barn at Hill House. Since then nearly 100 groups of people have stayed and enjoyed the wonderful view over our very special "secret" valley.

Thanks to our friend Simon for this fab photo of The Barn at Hill House from the air. We are having a very busy summer and have had lots of very happy guests. We have many bookings for the rest of the year and some for next year too. We have had an unexpected cancellation for October half term week ( 21st to 28th ). Sykes were charging over £1000 for the week but we are offering it to FB friends for £800 for the week or less for part of the week or weekend. Don't forget we sleep 8 people in 4 bedrooms and have 3 bathrooms , 2 being en-suite.
