🎄🐾 FESTIVE SEASON HAZARDS FOR DOGS 🐾🎄

The festive season is full of delicious food, but some of our favourites can be highly dangerous for dogs. Here are a few to watch out for:

🚫 Chocolate – Toxic even in small amounts.
🚫 Mince pies & Christmas pudding – Raisins and currants can cause kidney failure.
🚫 Turkey bones & fatty scraps – Risk of choking or pancreatitis.
🚫 Onions, garlic, & leeks – Found in stuffing and gravy; can cause anaemia.
🚫 Xylitol – This sweetener in sugar-free products can cause liver failure.

Remember: What’s festive for us can be harmful to our dogs. Keep food out of reach, secure your bins, and educate guests about what’s safe to share!

If you want to include your dog in the celebrations, stick to dog-friendly treats or plain, unsalted vegetables like carrots or green beans! 🥕🐶

🛑 Emergency? Contact your vet immediately or call the Animal Poison Line (01202 50 9000) if your dog eats something harmful.

❌DANGERS OF RAWHIDE❌

Please do not give your dog rawhide. With Christmas around the corner some festive treats are packed with rawhide, and it’s a big NO NO for our furbabies.

Rawhide bones and other edible chews can pose a choking and blockage risk. In fact, this is a much bigger risk than contamination or digestive irritation. If your dog swallows large pieces of rawhide, the rawhide can get stuck in the esophagus or other parts of the digestive tract.

Please, keep your babies safe and offer other safer and healthier alternatives to rawhide, even if the treat looks cute and Christmassy.
