The BBC aired a show called ’Sort Your Life Out’ where they help people ‘declutter’ their homes. In episode 2, it is heavily portrayed that this couple’s pet rabbits are merely taking up space in the home and are part of the ‘clutter’. The conservatory they are kept in is revamped but the rabbits don’t aren’t able to enjoy the new space… they are moved outside to live in this extremely inadequate, tiny hutch!

All the work the The Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund has put in with their campaign for … only for the public to be shown this and many will now assume this is perfectly fine for the rabbits to live in! Rabbits need SO MUCH more space than we’ve been led to believe over time. A hutch really is not enough!

This is nothing against the owners shown in the video, they may well have brought the rabbits back inside after filming. In fact, the RWAF have also reached out offering to help them organise a safer and more suitable enclosure for the rabbits. This is a complaint to the BBC themselves for showing this to thousands of people, portraying animals as clutter and not living beings who need their specific welfare needs taken into consideration during all programmes such as this. They should always do their research and have advisors when dealing with animals in at any stage of filming.

Even though the scene is brief, it still sends the wrong message, and I urge you to send your thoughts to the BBC on this matter!

Keep those bunnies warm 🐰🧡

How do you keep your buns nice and toasty this winter? ❄

With weather warnings being issued throughout the UK and the first of the winter snow on its way, now is the time to prepare for the cold ☃️

If you have outdoor rabbits, make sure to keep them protected from the cold weather by providing them with a well-insulated, draught-free sleeping area.

❄ BEDDING: Use soft, dust extracted straw as bedding as opposed to hay as it is warmer as a bedding material.

❄ COMPANIONSHIP: This should always be essential, but this is especially important during the winter months as rabbits like to snuggle up and share body heat to keep warm.

❄ PROTECT FROM THE ELEMENTS: Use tarps to protect your rabbits’ housing from the elements and keep out the wind and rain.

❄ KEEP THEM CLEAN: We know it’s cold and wet, but that’s more of a reason to go outside and clean out your rabbits’ housing to make sure it’s not damp, and your rabbits are as comfortable as possible.

❄ BRINGING THEM INDOORS: If you are bringing your rabbits inside for the winter, a drastic change in temperature can cause them to overheat and they may lose their protective winter coat, which would cause them to suffer when they go back outside. Keep them somewhere quiet and away from strange smells and noises. Make temperature change gradual starting with a room with no heating such as a conservatory.

Remember, your rabbits will still want outdoor access to carry out their natural behaviours so they shouldn’t be confined to a hutch, but you should make their bed as cosy and comfortable as possible.

It's been bonkers busy for some time now and I just wanted to say a big thank you to my lovely customers for bearing with me. I haven't been as responsive to messages as I'd like to be and a bit slow on sending updates. Key pick ups and drop offs really cut into my time and so I really appreciate those of you who have had key safes installed or have been kind enough to drop them to me. This has made a big difference and I thank you all ☺️ x

***FOUND*** After 7 week missing Kitty has been found and has been in for a health check and is now back home safe and well, we cannot be any happier at the surgery
LOST*****
Sadly on Sunday we found Kitty was not in the house. Copious searches went on, search parties went around, and texts to neighbours etc , all of which have carried on again today but to no avail. We are hoping that she will be found safe or handed in to one of the Veterinary clinics in Caerphilly. This is her photo.
She has at least 3 white paws and a white undercarriage.
We are desperate to have our lovely girl back . We had such a playful time the night before and she was contented and purring.

Please contact the surgery if you have any information regarding Kitty. Please can you help get Kitty back home, thank you.
