❤️🩺 Thoracic pump theory 🩺❤️

This week, my super clever friend Michelle Moran used a really clever explanation for the thoracic pump theory used during CPR (compressions over the highest part of the chest in round chested dogs) and I just had to share it!

Think of a fairy liquid bottle, when it's almost empty and you need to get the last bit out. You squeeze the bottle, put it under water and when you let go, the water rushes into the bottle!

This is the same theory behind the thoracic pump. As you compress the thorax, then release, it draws blood to the heart/thorax to pump to the body with the next compression!

What a fab way of explaining it!!
