Now that dry January is over ( thank goodness for that!) I want to introduce you to the Number one secret about keeping those tear stains at bay and leave you feeling high and dry!
“Dry, dry and dry” again is what I repeatedly say to my customers . Another favourite: "Spend more time drying than applying" … but what does that mean? Simply put, because tear stains (and beard stains and chew stains) are caused by the iron waste products in the saliva and bodily fluids the most important part of the Happy Tears regime is keeping the fur dry. You should do this every day and every time you see moisture appearing on the fur. Our finger wipes and cloths are great for this as they're small enough to pop into your pocket when you're out and about!
Of course, Tears are important to the lubrication and comfort and overall health of your dog’s eyes but if the moisture is left to sit and build up on the fur this can lead to irritations and in some cases infections.

Miss Teddy is calm and sits patiently whist I dry her eyes and will let me comb her and apply our treatment. However, it didn’t happen over night and I trained Teddy to calmly accept my advances to her!

Remembering Man And His Best Friend. 🌹
Throw back to 2018 when the Miss Teddy team were working at my beautiful chapel and the residents created this beautiful Poppy scene in one of the gardens. We couldn’t resist dressing Teddy in a poppy outfit to
show our respect and remembrance of those who fought and lost their lives in the First World War which lasted from 28th July 1914 to 11th of November 1918.
How things change: the idea of Young Woofians was months away and Covid was not part of our vocabulary.
Earlier this year I sold my beautiful Chapel, something I thought I would never do and we work from an office in my home and all of the Miss Teddy and Young Woofians stock and where we do our packing is in an area of our home that I have called ‘the outback’
Today we honour the armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.

🐱 You may know that when we first started Young Woofians we also set up a sister company called Flawless Feline which made a tear stain treatment for cats using exactly the same method. As dog owners at Young Woofians we found it a lot easier to focus on our furry friends and fur mummies/daddies so we neglected the Flawless Feline website whilst Young Woofians grew in success.
Recently we took the decision to close our Flawless Feline website so we can really concentrate on this side of things - BUT, that doesn't mean we can't still help our feline friends with tear stains. In fact, our Happy Tears kits are just perfect for cats and are as effective as they are on dogs.

After using various costly products and seeing my poor Joe ( westie, sadly no longer with us) lick and lick his paws sometimes until they bled I took matters into my own hands and sorted the problem!!
Initially paw licking may start because of an allergy: weeds, trees, grass, house dust, the list is endless and allergies in our pups are more common than we think.
Of course our pup is going to lick their paw to alleviate the irritation. Sometimes until they become extremely painful.
So every time Joe came in from outside I washed each paw in warm household salt water, rinsed them off with clean water and this is the most important part: I dried each paw getting right into his pads. Thereby removing any foreign object ( usually a grass seed) and after a few days of doing this his paws were free of irritation and he stopped obsessing over his cute lil toe beans.
This was years ago and I used a towel to dry his feet but now understanding the amazing benefits of bamboo and using bamboo for Happy tears I have designed the perfect foot flannel!
Bamboo is absorbent and can be washed and reused time and time again. And of course, I had to have my usual choice of colours,
white, pink, and blue, in sets of two or four.

Due to Teddys wart problem mummy Sue designed and invented a clever cover that protected her leg and stopped her from chewing the wart!
The University of Nottingham are helping out and the cover will be available soon!

Nothing seemed to work and after years of spending literally hundreds of pounds, and carrying out intensive research the all natural treatment Happy Tears was created and

Teddy developed a wart on her leg and after numerous treatments and visits to the vets nothing stopped Teddy from chewing the wart and making it worse!
Not one to sit around and accept ‘no answer’ I created an anti nibble guard that stopped Teddy from chewing and after a few months the wart healed and Teddy forgot it was there!
I also designed a collar that would prevent her from chewing a wart on her hip and that worked too!

However I was struggling with the fitting. A fitting that would work on dogs of all sizes. The collar and anti nibble guard is too good not to share with the dog community so I approached Nottingham University and they are helping with the final design!!!!!
The new products will be launched this year and I couldn’t be more excited!
I love Teddy so much and strive to make everything better for her and my ideas and designs will ultimately help your babies too!
