DIRECTIONS TO THE SHOWGROUND:
FROM THE SOUTH: Exit at junction 36 and take the 3rd exit off the roundabout towards Kirkby Lonsdale, At the mini roundabout take the 1st exit towards Crooklands follow the road and turn left opposite Crooklands hotel. Follow the road, the show field is on the left opposite the main Westmorland County show ground. It will be signposted on the day.
FROM THE NORTH: Take the same exit and the first turn left off the roundabout towards Kirkby Lonsdale, at the mini roundabout follow instructions as above.
FROM SKIPTON: Head towards Kirkby Lonsdale, follow the signs to the m6. Just before junction 36 you will come to the mini roundabout, as above take the 3rd exit towards Crooklands, as above.

1. Registration - Ponies must be entered or in case of foals eligible for entry into the S.P.S.B.S Ponies must be named on the entry form.
2. Entry Fees - No Entry fees are refundable under any circumstances.
3. Judges - The decision of the judge is final. The committee reserve the right to change the judge if necessary.
4. Disease - Any animal found to be suffering from any contagious disease shall be removed from the showground.
5. Loss or Damage - The committee accepts no responsibility for loss, injury or damage to any person, animal or property.
6. Arrival - Once the judging has commenced late arrivals will not be admitted to the ring.
7. Ownership - All ponies must have been the bona fide property of the exhibitor for a period of no less than 3 calendar months immediately preceding the show.
8. Prize Money - Will be paid as the classes are judged.
9. Health and Safety
a. For the safety of all riders, handlers and visitors’ barbeques are prohibited.
b. Electric fences are not to be erected on show day.
10. Dark Brown Ponies - Are to be classed as black and therefore judged in the black ring.
11. Fillies - Three-year-old fillies with foal at foot may not be shown.
12. All Foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on show day.
13. Cancellation of classes - The committee reserve the right to divide or amalgamate classes according to the number of classes.
14. Objections - These must be logged in writing with the secretary, together with the sum of £20 before the championships.
15. Ring Champions 1st & 2nd - prize winners will be required in the ring for the judging of the ring championships. The supreme championships will be judged by three in-hand judges as follows. Best gelding to be chosen from the 1st prize winners of the three in hand rings. Best Foal to be chosen from the 1st prize winners of the three rings. Junior and reserve overall junior will be judged from the champion Juniors of the three rings. Senior and reserve overall will be judged from the champion seniors of the three rings. Supreme and reserve supreme champions will be judged from the senior and reserve overall champions and Junior and Reserve overall champions (4 ponies in all).
16. Small ponies - Entered in classes 17-24 cannot enter black or coloured classes.
17. Judging times - If any exhibitor can envisage a possible clash of classes, a word with the relevant ring steward may ensure that the class is held up, if possible, for a late arrival.
18. Progeny Class - All entries must be named on the entry form and have been exhibited in their various classes. Ponies may only be entered in one group. Ponies may be of any age, s*x or height (not exceeding 42") entries to the arrangement of the group are the responsibility of the owner of the stallion or mare.
19. Ridden/Young handlers– There must be no colts or entire males in Young Handlers and fancy-dress classes. Children under 14 years old may not show colts (excluding foals) or entire males in In-hand classes. Children under 12 years old on the day of the show may not show entire males in ridden classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14 years or under in In-hand classes. Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring. Hard hats must be worn by all exhibitors, irrespective of age, in ridden classes. In ridden Classes, if a rider falls off at any time whilst in the ring, both pony and rider must leave the ring, rider dismounted, and take no further part. All ridden ponies should be 4years old or older.
20. Judges - Exhibitors and Secretaries - Must be aware that a judge may not place in a class a pony, which to his or her knowledge has been bred, sold or leased or produced by the judge or his/her immediate family or employer; nor may he/she place a pony in which he/she has a financial interest; nor may he/she place an entire male by whom he/she has had a mare stinted in that season. Should a situation arise when such a pony appears, a referee, preferably on the appropriate panel of judges, should be appointed by the show secretary to place the pony in question in its position in the class. This also applies to stewards.
No discussions should be had with the exhibitors outside of the show ring until after all judging is completed.
21. C**ts/Stallions - IN ORDER TO ENTER A STALLION CLASS AT AN AFFILIATED SHOW, ENTIRE MALES AGED 4 YEARS OLD AND OVER MUST HAVE AN “S” NUMBER AND HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY THROUGH EITHER THE SPS-BS STALLION ASSESSMENT PRIOR TO 2006 OR THE CURRENT SPSBS VOLUNTARY VETERINARY EXAMINATION.
Ridden stallions MUST display a stallion bridle badge. In hand entire males 2 years and over are advised to display a stallion bridle badge. Please also note rule 18.
22. Kneeling - Exhibitors should not kneel but remain standing while in the ring.
23. Miscellaneous - In respects not covered by this foregoing rule, the committee adopts the rules of the S.P.S.B.S.
24. Equine Influenza – all equines must be fit and well, currently showing no signs of illness or having shown any signs of illness within the 10 days prior to the show. It is the competitor’s own choice whether to vaccinate and the committee take no responsibility for any illness resulting from attending this show. If any equine appears to be unwell or showing symptoms it and any other ponies, it has been in contact with will be asked to leave the showground immediately with no refund of cost.
