Another day of training this time igp, got some great tips for my heelwork and boy what a difference already, absolutely loved every moment of it. This is Def going to challenge my training, but what was lovely they commented what a lovely balanced collie sunny was, which is always lovely to hear as he is a super boy 💖

Susan is getting ready to start ordering some stock, and we thought we would ask if there was anything you would like us to order.
Our main supply of dog treats are from Anco Dog Treats , but we also stock anco nutrient oils as well as the very popular root chew, which are awesome for those big chewers and can be combined with the pate for extra flavour and value.
We stock, guru dog food which is a cold, pressed dry food.
Those that feed raw we stock prodog raw.
We will also be getting some lovely grippy long-lines, in soon.
Supplements is, something I personally add into my dog diets so if anyone is interested in Dorwest Herbs please shout.
Free local delivery is offered.

We are very excited about becoming members of the UK tracking association, we completed and passed our foundation assessment today but we were also covering search squares with 2 articles to retrieve, both sunny and Keith showed great potential 💖

Here we go again.
Yesterday was all about tracking and what a day it was, I hugely believe in learning from people that compete and excell in the sport and that is certainly what we got, we have another full day today.
Hands on learning is just as important as all the theory that we study.

It's all about nutrition.
If you have ever thought or asked any of these questions, this workshop will be for you.

Rally obedience is a perfect way to build a fabulous relationship with your dog, whether you want to progress to competing at shows even compete at rally online or just do it for fun, these classes will give you the basics skill for rally level 1 & 2.
3 spaces still available within this class, start date to be confirmed.

We hosted a rally workshop back in June (which was awesome) we are now going to have regular rally classes on a Monday evening, if this is of interest to you pop a message over and we can give you more details, these classes are focusing on getting you started and progressing through the levels at competition.
The great thing about rally is it gives you the option to compete online as well as attend competitions but you can also just train for fun 😊

As you all know I will be handing over the reins to Susan very soon, if anyone wants to meet Susan she will be at the pop up shop next Sunday 27th August.
Why did I feel Susan was the right choice.
Susan has been a dog trainer for the guide dogs for 35 years and currently is working for hearing dogs, but the thing that attracted me the most was once she started coming to my classes, she never left, her passion for training is on a.par with me, you have to live and breathe training. Susan is starting her journey in competitive obedience and rally, already does agility and has done cani cross with her dogs, but also is knuckling down and getting her theory knowledge up to date, what more could I have asked for from someone that will be looking after my little business.

I love animals of all sorts but I have a real connection with dogs and I LOVE my job. I have a custom built Do Photography Studio as well as a large secure outdoor area for those dogss who either have a high prey drive or "selective hearing" :-)

Coming to carnoustie 😀

🐾 N.O.C.A. 🐾

As some of you may know our trial is in August and we’ve been working hard behind the scenes.

The aim is to open up to more people to begin our journey as a club. I am delighted to tell you that we are also opening up another training evening in Carnoustie allowing more people to join.

What is NOCA?

- A new dog sport including nosework, obedience, courage and agility.
- The opportunity to train Scentwork, Tracking and Mantrailing as you move through the levels.
- High levels of obedience.
- The courage tests encourage you to build a confident and neutral dog.
- The chance to do some agility, height does not matter. The overall control of the dog in the exercise is what is important.
- The main focus of NOCA is creating a good relationship between handler and dog.

The aim of NOCA is to allow you to achieve your titles in the four sections. Once you have accomplished this, you will earn your Level 1 NOCA Title.

There is the opportunity for constant development as if you achieve your nosework, obedience and agility but miss out on your courage. There will be an opportunity to resit your courage whilst continuing to develop your next level in nosework, obedience and agility.

Don’t worry, you’re not expected to know how to train all this, this is what club training nights are for!

Training evenings are:

Sunday 4-6pm (Glenrothes)
Monday 6-8pm (Glenrothes)
Thursday 6-8pm (Carnoustie)

Club membership is £60 for the year and you get a free t-shirt.

Fees:

£20 per training class, pay as you go.

Or

£100 for a 4 week block, come to as many classes as you want, Glenrothes and Carnoustie.

Training will start in September as we prepare for our next trial. Keep an eye on the page for the membership registration opening up!

This is a training based course.
The main focus is to lay good foundations in an environment that puppy's will find easier to learn in by keeping class numbers small and individual areas to work in, as the weeks progress we challenge the puppys learning by increasing the difficulty of the environment. As owners it is important we also give you the knowledge and skills regarding good socialisation, good handling techniques for real life situations, understanding how dogs think and learn, amongst lots of other topics.

My dogs health is super important and having 2 dogs which are moving into senior years means we have to look closely at their diet, I have always added a joint supplement into their diet and as they get older i have added a little more, so both my senior dogs are on boswellia seratta as well as riaflex, but have started adding h**p oil. Brain health is another vital part of wellbeing, so I have now started using salmon oil, something I have not previously used for different reasons (huge topic) but I feel my oldest could benefit from it, I do have a couple of each for sale as we do buy in bulk, if anyone wants to grab one let be know.

We got a spotlight 😍

Meet Approved Dog Trainer, Linda Roger, from Barkbrigade Dog Training, Behavioural and Walking Services based in Carnoustie.

Linda was inspired to become a dog trainer when she started dog walking and soon realised that dogs were her passion.

When we asked Linda what the best thing about being a DTC Dog Trainer is, she said 'having access to so many resources, to help develop my career, the level of support from DTC but also from other members'.

Linda would say 'have confidence in yourself because we know that we study hard and put so much time, effort and soul into learning to have the ability to help so many dogs and owners' to anyone thinking of becoming a dog trainer.
