Very sadly have to announce the passing of my beloved Dad, Noel Larkin.
He died peacefully at the cancer centre yesterday.
I will be taking some time off and will return to work sometime during January in the new year.

Hi Folks! Just a quick reminder that I am away next Friday (15th) to my annual tradition of seeing the London Horse Show and buying lots of goodies for my own horsy 🐴(see Maisie below)

FAQs for Winter walks

Do you still take the dogs out in the rain?
Most of the time, yes. However, if it is flooding badly and/or risk to life weather warning then all appointments during that time will be cancelled.

Can we change our walks to pet sits instead for the winter?
Absolutely! We can play indoors instead.

Does agility still take place?
Agility (jumping) depends on the ground throughout the year. Too hard or too swampy and the jumps will not be brought out but sniff work and general obedience and games can be brought in in its stead.

Does my dog need a coat on?
Depends on the dogs breed and age.
Whippet? Absolutely needs a coat on! (Possibly two!)
St Bernard? No.
A collie? Depends on age. An old one probably needs a wee waterproof on rainy days.

Do you work over Christmas and New Year’s ?
I work up to and including 23rd December and return to work on 4th January.

🐾TAILORED DOG CARE🐾

Hi there!

Here at happy tails we offer tailored exercise and pet care towards your dog’s needs. It may be a simple walk, or they may need more intense exercise like agility or even socialisation with another dog. Or sometimes, just to pop in to toilet and feed!
We will try our best to cater to all parties involved.

Half hour walk/pet sit - £5 for one dog/ £8 for two
Hour exercise/pet sit - £10 for one dog/ £15 for two
Hour and a half exercise/pet sit- £15 for one dog/ £22 for two

There are petrol charges if you are further than 3 miles away from my home (Ballycarry) or part take in agility.

For safety reasons we cannot walk more than 2 dogs at one time.

If you have an exceptionally hairy dog, you can arrange for a basic grooming session. Lasts 20 minutes. This includes paw cleaning, de matting, brushing, combing, ear cleaning. And it’s only £5!

Hi folks! Lily is returning to university on 18th September! From that week onwards until Christmas time, she will be away all day Friday (i.e. for the next couple of months unable to work Fridays).
Everyone on the client list should have received an important message containing all necessary information about her return to university and how it may affect some of you.

Did you know that 10 minutes of constant sniffing tires a dog out to the equivalent of 30 minutes of constant running!
Loading up a snuffle mat filled with your dog’s favourite tasty treats, crumbling pate in the garden over grass and in plants for them to find or if you don’t like the idea of bits of pate lying everywhere…pop some in a mist bottle, fill with water and shake!! Simply spray a scent trail all over the garden 🪴
The key to tired out, happy dogs 🐕
