Not looking like a good day for walking on Friday ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
Stay safe everyone, I will be in touch with my customers for Friday walks and if too unsafe may have to reschedule

Amber warning for 90mph Winds issued for Dumfries, Galloway, Lothian & Borders

Storm ร‰owyn is expected to bring very strong winds and widespread disruption on Friday Between 06:00 (UTC) on Fri 24 Jan 2025 and 21:00 (UTC) on Fri 24 Jan 2025

Storm ร‰owyn will move across the northwest of the UK on Friday, clearing to the northeast on Friday night. This will bring a spell of very strong west to southwesterly winds, with peak gusts of 60-70 mph fairly widely inland, 70-80 mph in some areas, and 80-90 mph along more exposed coasts and hills (perhaps even higher in a few locations). It should be noted that there may be a slight reduction in wind strength for a time as the centre of Storm ร‰owyn passes overhead, this most likely in parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland, before winds rapidly increase again. Winds will gradually ease later on Friday.

What to expect
โ€ข Power cuts are likely to occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
โ€ข Road, rail, air and ferry services are likely to be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some roads and bridges will close
โ€ข There is a chance that damage to buildings and homes could occur, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down
โ€ข Injuries and danger to life could occur from flying debris, as well as large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties

What Should I Do?
Prepare to protect your property and people from injury. Check for loose items outside your home and plan how you could secure them. Items include; bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, sheds, and fences.
Windy weather can cause delays and make travel conditions dangerous. Follow these few simple steps to prepare before journeys. Check bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary. If driving, check road conditions and ensure you have essentials in your car (warm clothing, food, water, a blanket, a torch, an in-car phone charger). People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. Itโ€™s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.
If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves, even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea. Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.

Reason for update
Increased confidence in the area likely to experience the strongest winds, with likelihood of high impacts increased and some tweaks to the area. Start and end times have been refined to cover the period of greatest impactful conditions.

I have gained quite a few new followers the past few days so thought I would do an introduction about myself and the business โค๏ธ

I am Louise, originally from Scottish Borders, through E Harmony I met my now husband, Graeme. Moved to Kirkcudbright then onto Gatehouse of Fleet, where we bought our first home together with my step children, Emily & Aaron.

I have always had a love for all animals, having dogs throughout my life, I knew this is something I wanted to do and was missing in the area, the time never seemed to be right, while on honeymoon I made the decision to "just do it", and it has been the best decision I've made.

I have so many lovely dogs and other animals that I now have the pleasure of looking after, it doesn't feel like work!

I am so excited for the future of Louise's Happy Paws ๐Ÿพ

Thank you for everyone that supports me and helps me, I appreciate it ๐Ÿซถ

Another exciting post......
I was kindly invited to be part of Laggan Wedding Fayre on Sunday 19th January! I am working hard in the background to get things prepared and ready, feeling a little nervous but also excited!
Which means I am adding an extra string to my bow and being part of couples wedding day, whether that be looking after their dog while they get married, walking the dog at the venue or taking the dog to the venue!
I am very grateful to have been invited and excited to see what 2025 is going to bring
