Sadly I've had some major issues with my van that is going to be off the road until Saturday 😫

For anyone expecting walks with me this week, if I haven't contacted you, walks will resume as normal - I will be sending out messages to some of you today regarding group walks and timings! I'm so sorry for any inconvenience! For any messages that I haven't responded too, I will get back to you by this evening!

Meanwhile - my other half is shipping me around on his motorbike, wellies and a helmet - fashion disaster 😂

Saying goodbye 😢

Zion was one of my first ever dogs to walk, he pulled relentlessly, peed on everything and walked at 100mph! He made everyone smile with his cheeky face and I loved walking him!

Zion is sadly moving to another town and I know he is going to have the best life, but I will truly miss seeing him every day!

This also means I have a few available slots opening so get in touch for any walks ✨

Say hello to my wonderful tiny new friends Ronnie and Milo 🥹💙

They can be a bit nervous of people and other dogs, so we are going to be working on exposing them slowly to their worries! Our walks are going to be used to build confidence and resilience for these young gents, and they're already responding so well and showing good engagement!

WHY should your dog not approach other dogs that they/you don’t know?!

The main reason for me is YOUR dogs safety BUT there are many other reasons why… let’s get into it!

Some dogs may…

▪️Be in training
▪️Be in heat
▪️Be recovering from an operation
▪️Be suffering from an injury
▪️Not like other dogs
▪️Not want to play
▪️Be anxious
▪️Be working

These are just some of the reasons why it’s so important to not let your dogs run up to others, ESPECIALLY if the other dog is on the lead or wearing Yellow like my wonderful Westie below, Daisy!

Be curtious, kind and respectful of other people and their dogs feelings!🐶

Soooo much fun at Heavenly Views Dog Park with my little and large! Safe to say we will be visiting on the regular from now on!

Pairing dogs up based on their play style and temperament is soo important to keep them safe, happy and confident and it’s safe to say, these two loved one another! 🩷

My boy 🌟

When training Ziggy, inside the house FOOD is his greatest reward. He will do almost anything for some cheese, treats or his normal food!

HOWEVER when we step out into the world, and he is off lead, he couldn’t care less about food. His reward in this scenario is a ball, a tug, some form of play.

So if you’re struggling with training out and about, and your dog won’t take food, it’s not because the treat isn’t tasty enough, or they’re fussy, or even STUBBORN, they just aren’t motivated enough by what you have to offer.

Would you go to work without being paid? NO! And some jobs that your employer may ask of you, might need a different type of payment than your standard hourly wage.

Find your dogs motivation - if they love sniffing, use that. If they love a game of tug, use that!

Oh Rufus, you’re ridiculously good looking 🤩

We have been working on Rufus’ place training.

Why is training ‘Place’ so important, I hear you ask!

Place (bed/mat) training is a fantastic tool to have in your kit when it comes to training. It creates a boundary of where your dog is supposed to be - when you want them to settle whilst you have a dinner party, an area they can switch off and relax, as well as a boundary for them to be in when you have new people enter the house, young children playing OR poisonous food dropping off the high chair 🍇

AND YOU CAN TAKE IT EVERYWHERE! 🍺 🍽️ ⛱️

We are now at a level where I can place some yummy snacks on the floor, and Rufus will remain lying down on his place without moving to get them until he is told he can! He is a very clever puppy 💫

Does your dog have that level of self control, and if not - is that something that could help you at home?

Now that I have your attention, let’s talk trainkng ‼️

Does your dog do certain behaviours, even though you haven’t taught/trained them? Do they go straight to the treat jar after a walk? Do they sit under the table whilst you’re eating incase food gets dropped? Do they go to the back door for a wee before bed time?

This is because they’ve recognised the routine, they know the pattern of life and have created habits because you, although not intentionally, have been practicing every day! 🙌

So - if you want to make progress in your training, practice it every day, reward the behaviour/actions you like and I guarantee you will succeed 💪🏻

☀️ It’s a hot one today ☀️

I’m looking after the gorgeous Mocky whilst her parents are out at a wedding all day - because it’s too hot for walking we have been doing some sniffing in the shade, some tug in the house and taking lots of breaks to cool off!

If your dog is fed kibble and you’ve got some shaded area in your garden - why not try taking a portion of it and throwing it across the grass and letting them forage for their food?

TOP TIP 🧡 - 15 minutes of sniffing can be as mentally stimulating as a 45 minute walk ‼️
