🌸 Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums! 🌸

At the rescue, we’re always inspired by the devotion of mothers like Grace, who poured love and care into her babies. But we also want to remind everyone about the importance of neutering rabbits for their health and well-being, as there are already so many bunnies in need of homes.

To all the amazing mums of furry, feathery, and scaly little ones 🐰🦜🐸🐁🐔🐠🐹, and a special shoutout to our wonderful Fluffy Butts foster mums ❤️, we honour you today!

We recognise that this day can be difficult for some, so if you're having a tough time, please be kind to yourself 💗

Squid and Toad are a delightful pair of four-year-old guinea pig boys who, somehow, still haven’t had a single enquiry! These two truly deserve a loving family to call their own.

Their foster parents describe them as charming, sociable, and full of personality. They have a wonderful bond and can often be found chatting away, exploring their surroundings, or eagerly waiting for their next meal. Like all self-respecting guinea pigs, food is their greatest passion—fresh herbs are their absolute favourite!

These boys would love a home where they feel safe, loved, and spoiled. If you’re looking for a friendly, entertaining duo to brighten your days, Squid and Toad could be the Guinea Pigs for you!

💛 Our usual rehoming requirements apply. If you think you could be the perfect match, please get in touch!

11/03/2025

Over the weekend, our sweet Willow had to be rushed to the emergency out-of-hours vet after showing signs of gut stasis—a serious and potentially fatal condition in rabbits. Thanks to quick action, Willow is now on the mend and starting to feel much better 💕

This situation highlights just how important it is to closely monitor your rabbits for any signs of illness. Rabbits are prey animals and often hide their symptoms, so acting fast can make all the difference. If your bunny seems off—whether they’re not eating, sitting hunched up, or producing fewer or smaller droppings—seek veterinary advice immediately.

Emergency vet visits like this are also a huge financial burden, with out-of-hours care often costing hundreds of pounds. That’s why we strongly recommend pet insurance for all rabbit owners. It can help cover unexpected medical costs and ensure your rabbit gets the best care without hesitation.

As a rescue, unexpected vet bills like this put a huge strain on our funds. If you’d like to help with Willow’s care and support our work, please consider donating at the link below. Every little bit helps us continue saving rabbits in need.

We’re so relieved that Willow is improving, but this is a reminder of how fragile rabbits can be. Please keep a close eye on your bunnies, and if something seems wrong, don’t wait—trust your instincts and act fast!

Let’s talk about Spring Fever!

Rabbits know when spring is coming and the longer days and warmer weather can trigger 'spring fever' in rabbits as their hormone levels rise.

Neutered rabbits still have hormones in their bodies but at a much lower level to un-neutered rabbits.

During spring, wild rabbits have their peak breeding time and so hormones spike massively.

Some neutered pet rabbits may show social, sexual or even aggressive behaviours although this is rare and tends to be mild.

Examples of spring fever are:
🐰chasing
🐰 nipping
🐰mounting their companion
🐰 digging
🐰 increased chinning
🐰 the occasional accident outside the litter tray

These behaviours should settle down within a week or two and providing plenty of space and enrichment will keep them mentally and physically active during this time.

Spring fever is another good example of why it is important to neuter your bunny! 🐰🐰

Our Story

Fluffy Butts Rescue started at the beginning of the year, after discussing and planning for a long time.

We are a vegan rescue that is ran by three close friends with various experience of looking after animals. We saw that locally there was a need for a rescue and rehoming service for smaller animals, especially rabbits.

The animals we rescue often have been neglected or are no longer receiving the care that the deserve. We try to rehome and rehabilitate animals where possible, and those that have additional needs stay with us for life. Any rabbit that is rehomed is always neutered and vaccinated before going to their forever home. Although we ask for a donation for animals that are rehomed, this does not cover the costs of vaccinations, neutering and any other medical bills. This means we rely on donations to help us continue recusing animals.

As well as providing forever homes and a rehoming service we are also involved with helping with animal hoarding cases, whether this is by transporting animals to fosterers or other rescues or providing space at our rescue. Working together with other rescues is important to help make a difference to animals lives.
