“How lovely to walk dogs all day” is something we hear a lot.
“How lovely to walk dogs all day” is something we hear a lot.
It is lovely but we carefully observe and manage groups to ensure they get the best environmentally enriching walk they can.
This video is an example of what happens on our walks. It’s not about the quantity (as in how many miles) but the quality of the walk & we thoroughly encourage sniffing of the environment. If we feel the energy may be a little too high we will scatter feed and this encourages them to slow the pace down.
Often at the beginning of a walk some of the dogs are very excited and can be a little overstimulated and high energy so we try to ensure we start the walk as calmly as possible.
We are fortunate to have access to a 20 acre field that only we use and it is full of fabulous smells of wildlife. There are areas of long grass which provide the best sniffs but also paths for the shorter legs amongst us.
We don’t just stick to our field, as it is important that some of the dogs we walk daily have some variety.
We want all of our Love Hounds to get the best out of their walks with us.
Have a wonderful week,
Emma & the Love Hounds team x
The snow got everyone a little excited today
Well - my weather app said drizzle!
Just a heads up that we may be running a little late today. This sort of weather means wet dogs, more cars on the road and throw in the inevitable badly planned roadworks in various parts of Cheltenham!!
We will endeavour to stick to our normal timings but that may not be possible.
Thanks for your understanding

LOVE HOUNDS : Ned, Arthur, Jessie & Peanut
Little Ned telling me off for taking so long! 🤣
They waited all day for the temperature to drop - it was the perfect temperature- heaven 🤎🩶🤍
Here is a glimpse of what we do in hot weather.
Sniffy Woodland Walks are perfect because they avoid over exertion by slowing the pace down - we do sometimes scatter feed we hide treats in trees and holes in walls and this provides mental stimulation - approx 15 minutes of sniffing is the equivalent of an hours exercise - if you don’t believe me wait until they get home 💤.
Walking through is great as they provide shade but it is often a couple of degrees cooler as well.
We also have Cooling Vests if necessary and obviously access to fresh drinking water.
We have changed our walk times due to the hot weather and we will not be walking after midday today.
Well it’s been a tough week, in fact June has not been my month - bring on July!!!
I thought I’d pop on and tell@you a bit about our Goodie Bag Pop Up whilst wandering through the gorgeous 20 acre field in the Coberley valley that we have access to.
Be kind - this was my first ever video and I think it’s fair to say I am not a natural 😂.
I did consider a prize for the person who guessed just how many million time I said Um 😆.
Lily has no idea why Doug would go in the water trough!
