The April Show is just round the corner and so it’s high time you met the next judge - Martin Kabina 🇨🇿

,Breeding and exhibiting cats has been my passion since 1988. I started with Russian Blue and Siamese/Oriental breeds. Currently, Selkirk Rex has been my focus for the fifth year. I was the first breeder of Selkirk Rex in Czechia. 5 successful litters of Selkirks have been bred by me. I have been working as a FIFe judge since 1995.
In addition to cats, we also have dogs - borzois, parrots, a turtle, and chickens. Gardening is also one of my favorite pastimes’

Oh, we can’t wait to meet him!

✨ Meet The Judge ✨

Hello Cat Friends 🐾🐈

We are so excited to introduce the first judge LAURA SCHOLTEN from the Netherlands 🇳🇱

Here is a lovely bio she’s sent us so you can get to know her a bit better ❤️

I am an all breed judge of FIFe. Since I started showing my cats in 1980, I knew that I wanted to be a judge eventually.
So after I raised my children it was time to get into the education program and start learning.
In 2019 I became all-breed and I finally can judge all cats. Breeding cats for such a long time is an advantage while judging, in my opinion.
I breed cats since 43 years. Started with Persians and an Aby (neuter).
In 1989 I registered my cattery Blue Velvet’s in FIFe and since then I breed Burmese and Burmilla with great pleasure. Beside the cats I live together with my friend Peter and a Shi Tsu called Beppie.
I am a proud mother of a daughter and a son and granny of 2 boys. When I am not away for judging, I enjoy life at home with the family and take care of our horses.
I cannot imagine a life without cats and judging cats gives me the chance to see and feel all kind of cats and meet lovely people at the same time.
It has been a while since I was in the UK to judge, so I am looking forward very much to see you all again.

Ever wondered why your cat licks so often?
On average cats spend between 30-50 per cent of there day on grooming themselves.

Cats will lick other cats in their social group partly to create a bond, but also because licking other cats within the group creates a group scent which helps cats tell who is in their social band!

So, your cat is probably licking you because it knows it’s part of your family! And to show you affection 💕💕

Sometimes however, excessive or even obsessive licking may be a sign of stress or anxiety. 😿

Cats like consistency. Changes can be stressful. A recent move, addition or loss of another pet at home, or even a change of schedule can cause anxiety in cats.
In such cases licking is considered a "displacement behavior" and it may calm and comfort your furry friends.

Here are a few scientifically proven examples of the impact Purring babes may have on our health 🤍

🐾Purring releases endorphins in cats, and it can do the same in humans. 💕
Lowered stress hormones are helpful for healing, lowering blood pressure, and helping people cope with illness.

🐾Cat purring has been shown to aid in the healing of broken bones, joint and tendon repair, and wound healing.

🐾A person with respiratory problems might also be able to breathe easier if a purring cat is nearby.

🐾There are many stories of people with migraines whose headaches are eased when they lie with their heads close to purring cats.
