***Emergency contacts for kennel cough and other infectious diseases***

Just a friendly reminder to please check that your emergency contact is somebody who would be willing and able to collect your dog from me in the event of your dog coming down with kennel cough or any other infectious disease as stated in the contract. Please make sure your emergency contact is aware that should your dog come down with an infectious disease such as kennel cough, they would be expected to collect your dog from my care as soon as possible if you’re out of the country, as stated in the policy and procedure documents and contract.

Kennel cough and other infectious diseases put my own dogs at risk, as well as any other dogs in my care. Kennel cough is highly contagious and can be serious in older dogs or dogs with underlying health conditions. Having the kennel cough vaccine does not prevent your dog from developing the disease. If there is a delay in you or your emergency contact being able to collect a dog with kennel cough or any other infectious disease, this greatly increases the risk of the disease spreading and means I have to turn away other clients who are already booked in.

If you suspect your dog has been in contact with any other dog showing symptoms of kennel cough or any other disease for up to 10 days before they come into my care, please do not bring them.
