Guess who I’m back with?! 🐾🥰

That’s right—Buttons, Spudge, and Patch! 🐱🐱🐱

I first met these three lovely ladies back in August 2024, and I have the pleasure of looking after them whenever their amazing pawrents are away!

✨ Meet the gang:

🐾 Spudge – Miss Independent! She loves the outdoors and always waits patiently by her feeder when she knows food is coming.🌿

🐾 Patch – The ultimate lounge queen. You’ll usually find her stretched out in the living room or soaking up the fresh air in the garden.🧘‍♀️

🐾 Buttons – The little warrior! This brave girl was recently diagnosed with diabetes, meaning she gets daily insulin shots 💉 and has her glucose levels checked (that’s what the white circular sensor on her is for).

One thing they all have in common? They LOVE mealtime! 🍽️😻

The second those bowls lift off the counter, it’s a race to their feeders—and they know exactly which one is theirs! Clever girls!

Looking forward to spending more time with these three! ❤️🐾

🐾Understanding Dog Safety Colours – Why Yellow Means “Give Me Space”🐾

You may have seen dogs wearing brightly coloured leads, harnesses, bandanas, or hi-vis vests, but did you know these colours actually have meaning? They aren’t just for style,they’re an important way to communicate a dog’s needs!

Today, let’s talk about YELLOW 🟡
A colour that signals “I need space”. If you see a dog in yellow, please respect their space by recalling your dog or putting them back on the lead. It could be a matter of safety for both dogs.

🟡 Why Might a Dog Need Space?

A dog wearing yellow may:
🐕 Be reactive or nervous around other dogs or people
🐕 Be recovering from injury, surgery, or illness
🐕 Be in training and needs to focus
🐕 Be a senior dog or have mobility issues
🐕 Simply prefer to keep their distance

Not every dog wants to say hello, and that’s okay!

🟡 My Commitment to Safety

I regularly walk reactive dogs, and I go above and beyond to keep them safe. We stick to quiet fields and peaceful routes, but I also make sure:
✅ I wear a bright yellow hi-vis for visibility
✅ Dogs are either on lead or using a bright yellow long line
✅ I always scan ahead to ensure we have enough space

Yet, despite all of this, an off-lead dog running over can undo months (or even years) of training and confidence building. Worse still, if your dog rushes up to a reactive dog, they could be bitten. This isn’t aggression—it’s fear, anxiety, or simply a dog defending their space.

🟡 A Simple Act of Respect

If you see a yellow dog, please:
🔹 Recall your dog immediately
🔹 Pop them back on the lead if necessary
🔹 Give the yellow dog space to pass safely

It’s that simple! Respect goes a long way in creating safer, happier walks for everyone.

🚶‍♀️ A Friendly Reminder for Our Walks

If you see us out on our walks and I’m wearing my yellow hi-vis, please respect our space. This applies to all dogs that need space, not just the ones in yellow! A little consideration can make a huge difference in keeping everyone safe and calm.

Don’t let the first photo fool you! Our Wednesday duo walk was more like this:

Milo, living his best life in the rain, sniffing every drop, while Lola gave me the “carry me or else” look until I shared my Dryrobe! 😅😂 But once the rain stopped, both doggos were soaking up the sunshine like it never happened! ☀️🐾
