Gorgeous Ted was in for his groom earlier, he really is the most calm and lovable little boy with the best personality 💙

Despite brushing Ted for what seemed forever, the undercoat matting was too difficult to give him his usual teddy bear cut, but thankfully going shorter made no difference to how handsome he is 🐾💙

Back to a 6 week schedule and our Teddy Bear will be back in no time 🧸

Undercoat Matting 🐾🐾

I’m seeing quite a few doodles of late with undercoat matting and by the way absolutely no judgement from me because my own cavapoo needs to go shorter for this very reason. 🐾 🐶

Lots of owners really try to brush daily, to the untrained eye their dog looks really fluffy and it causes lots of confusion when a groomer has no option but to go shorter because of this.

Just shout if you need some advice on tools to buy, we’re all human and doodles can be hard to keep Matt free, brushing daily, sticking to a regular 6/8 week schedule and working with your groomer really make a difference 🐾🐶

By no means an endorsement, but brushes like these will definitely be your friend if you want to keep your dog Matt free 🐾

I had the pleasure of seeing my mate Lexi earlier and true to form she was as beautiful as ever 🐾

Airdale Terrier Lexi has to deal with a lot; severe allergies to dust and meat, skin issues and ear problems 😢. Gosh, she handles it all in her stride and couldn’t be more fab. 💗

So Lexi’s grooming journey has changed significantly and she can no longer be hand stripped, so a comfort groom has to be the way forward these days, no breed standards and just keeping this gorgeous girl as happy as she always is 🐾🐾

Our Little Rosie was starting to resemble a bundle of fluff lately and with the recent weather she was starting to get some matting around her legs and ears. 🐾
So to make life easier for her gorgeous Mum we’ve taken this absolute sweetheart shorter.

Long or short Rosie will always steal your heart (and your treats 🫣) whilst walking round the village 💗

Another Saturday Morning Super Star in the form of 12 year old Cockerpoo Meg 💗🌟

Meg was considerably over her normal groom with moving to the area and not being able to find a new groomer, so back to her usual short cut and the sweetest little lady you will ever meet 💗🐾

When I first met Lark I felt a failure, she was badly matted, hugely anxious and I could fully understand why her last groomer muzzled her or used a cradle 😢. Gone are the days of dreading grooming Lark; she’s so chilled and an absolute pleasure, it just took time for her to feel safe 🙏🐾🥰

When you trust a groomer with your dog, your dog also needs to trust them 🙏, this video shows a very different picture to when I first met Luna 💗. Kindness comes first and the biggest battle is now keeping this little lady awake 🐾🥰

People often ask are senior dogs difficult to groom and my answer is always the same. Absolutely not; they just need a little more time and a little bit more love 🥰

12 year old Jessie is the most beautiful little lady who sits with so much calm, gives me puppy dog eyes for treats and I never want to hand her back. 💗🐾🐶

I’m incredibly blessed to meet such wonderful dogs and these two were no exception today.

Pablo and Connie, the most stunning miniature schnauzers were overdue their grooms and had a some knots that needed to be removed which their lovely Mum had helped with; so today was a tidy up and blending areas to freshen up.

Pablo and Connie have non breed standard grooms and really are the most beautiful dogs 💗💙🐾

A very warm welcome to this truely beautiful Cavalier King Charles, 10 month old Albus 💙💙 (Albie) 🐾

Sometimes it’s hard to give these gorgeous pups back and this little man definitely could have stayed indefinitely 🫣
Not only did he give the best cuddles but fell asleep on my shoulder during his blow dry, days like these are simply the best 🥰

I couldn’t put it better and the biggest thank you to all the wonderful friends that I’ve met along the way.

For those that know me you’ll know I’m
Spinning a lot of plates at the moment and dealing with unwell members of my immediate family; replies are much slower than I’d like them to be and whilst I’m trying to navigate this road of uncertainty with so many hospital appointments I will always get back to messages at some point and apologies to those waiting.

Thank you for sticking by me and understanding the situation, for keeping me busy and of course keeping me smiling with such lovely messages of support.

I’m putting my phone down for the night and any messages received today will be picked up tomorrow.

The warmest of welcomes to beautiful Cookie who made her very first visit to a groomers today and oh my goodness she blew me away with her calmness; especially having a full groom; she was was incredible🍪 💗

Finishing Friday with a first puppy groom for 16 week old Cavapoo, Otis 💙🐾

I’m totally blown away how calm this little man was given he’s never set foot in a grooming salon and waltzed in full of confidence. 🐶

Puppies aren’t easy to groom, but Otis definitely was a dream and not fazed by anything other than looking cute and enjoying his little puppy treats. 🐾

It may be Friday night, but I’ve got so so many messages to reply to 🫣, I’m struggling to find enough hours in the day at the moment, but please be assured that I’m getting through them as quickly as I can, but for the next hour I’m going to pour myself a large glass of red, order a Chinese and then try and get through some more 🐾💗

Yesterday morning I was due to groom this beautiful old Lady but given the weather conditions we postponed it till next week.

I’ve just finished for the day to the saddest news that 14 year old Poppy very sadly fell asleep one last time last night and went over Rainbow Bridge 🌈😢

Poppy was a 14 year old miniature schnauzer who clearly was so loved, and the first dog to leave our Great Grooms Family 🐾🐾😢

Sleep tight beautiful Poppy; you definitely left a paw sized dent on my heart 🐾😢

After months of planning, Great Grooms of Chester is nearly ready and on target to open in early April, just needs a few finishing touches, scissors to arrive, booking system to go live and voila 🐶🐾 I’m still pinching myself every day that this is my happy place and I’m ready to open for baths, blows and nails, and full grooms will be available soon.
