ully furnished homes while the owners are away. They safeguard possessions & valuables, & often care for domestic pets, poultry, farm livestock & gardens too, in line with a detailed brief provided by the client. Unlike some firms, Selsey Sitters is not an agency. We are a husband & Wife team who originally were dog walkers but with our children becoming more independent, we’ve developed our business to home sitting as well. Or presence deters burglars, squatters & vandals, maintaining unrestricted insurance cover & potentially securing reduced premiums. We also help guard against weather or water damage & ensure your home is aired & kept in good order, ready to welcome you home at the end of your trip. Selsey Sitters will always carry out responsibilities in accordance with your instructions. We will be discreet at all times, & fully respect confidentiality. We will not leave your home unoccupied for any period exceeding three consecutive hours during daylight or one hour after dark. We have a 24/7 backup telephone service in the unlikely event of a homesitter falling ill. If we need to leave for any reason, a replacement homesitter can be swiftly organised. Probate sits
Properties are particularly vulnerable when awaiting probate, & unfortunately burglars are keen readers of obituaries & death notices. Once word gets around that a home is unoccupied, it is all too easy for an unwanted visitor to turn up with a van & pick off cherished antiques & irreplaceable heirlooms, adding to a family’s grief at the worst possible time. This has affected us personally in the past, so we are very passionate about it not happening to others. Insurance cover is often restricted while properties are awaiting probate. Police & insurers recommend that someone should move into the deceased’s home before the funeral takes place, & that they should remain in residence until probate is granted, or at least until all valuables have been moved to safe storage. At Selsey Sitters, we are used to moving fast to protect these high-risk properties. We can provide a live in person for as long as needed to protect against burglary, damage, care for possessions & pets, & maintain unrestricted insurance cover. We also offer a special one-day service so the property of the deceased is not left vacant during the funeral. For their peace of mind, funeral attendees may also wish to use this service to secure their own home and care for any pets in their absence.
