Highly recommend a course like this for horse owners/equine professionals. The world of natural remedies and self selection is fascinating and there is so much to learn! Having dabbled and been trained in Zoopharma and Foraging over the years I can vouch for what a difference natural remedies can make to your equines, including donkeys and mules, particularly for my pony with Cushingโs Disease. Itโs also great fun to take your equines out for walks in hand and let them browse and forage for themselves! ๐ด๐ฑ๐
๐ฑAPPLIED ZOOPHARMACOGNOSY AND FORAGING WORKSHOP๐ฑ with Victoria Dorman of Natural Animal Therapies
Sunday, 16th April. โจ BOOK NOW โจ
We are REALLY excited to have a date in the diary for this spring workshop after the huge response we had to the autumn date.
In the wild, selecting plants for their nutritional and medicinal benefits (Zoopharmacognosy) is instinctive behaviour that is practiced daily by animals.
Wild animals have large terrains over which to roam to find exactly what they need, unlike most of our animals in the U.K. who usually have quite limited access to useful plants and the plants that do grow within reach are then often overgrazed.
So to help ours to access the widest range of botanicals possible, the process of Applied Zoopharmacognosy, where plant materials are offered either fresh, dried or as aromatic oils, was developed.
In this workshop you will learn how the magical process of foraging and botanical self-selection can enrich your horse's life and maintain their well being.
๐ฑ First we will take a foraging walk through the abundant hedgerows and fields to identify the plants growing locally, and their nutritional and medicinal benefits.
๐ฑ We will then move on to an Applied
Zoopharmacognosy session where we offer fresh and dried herbs, powdered nutrients and essential oils and botanical waters to the horses.
This session is suitable for beginners but also can be enjoyed as a โseriesโ for those who have already attended and want to learn about spring plants.
