PUPPY ICU - at new paws we have incubators that can help revive weak and cold puppies but for puppies that are failing to latch we are delighted to say we have Katie available to help give any weak or abandoned puppies the highest chance of survival. Katie is HIGHLY experienced with tube feeding puppies having ran her own rescue saving puppies with birth defects such as cleft palates that would otherwise have been put to sleep because they are unable to latch onto the bitch. I have witnessed myself the dedication this lady has to hand raising puppies and it’s nothing short of amazing. Tube feeding ( when done correctly by someone experienced) is much safer than bottle feeding as bottle fed puppies have a high chance of deadly aspiration pneumonia which is caused when puppies take milk into their lungs. Since tube feeding is done by putting milk directly into the puppies stomach it’s removes the risk of aspiration. Some puppies only need a few days to grow stronger and catch up to their siblings and they can then rejoin the litter and continue to thrive. I could not recommend anyone more for this task. Pup - date on the baby Great Dane , he was so weak when he arrived that at one point I thought he had passed but after a few hours at new paws HQ he was strong enough to go home to his mum and his managed to latch on. Yay 🎊🎉
