From our yard to yours Merry Christmas!

I appreciate all of my liveries so so much and absolutely adore having them and their horses on livery with me.

Running a livery isn’t always the easiest, finding the balance of genuine quality people that not only trust my ideas, listen to my advice but also become friends and part of the family is really something quite special. Every year I pinch myself that this is actually my job but having such a wonderful supportive bunch of people around me it never feels like work.

I couldn’t run our yard without my amazing small team of staff Nicole, Liv, Jas and Gemma! I’m lucky to have such a great bunch of girls who all just get stuck in! They are the best around!

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the professionals that help me and support the horses throughout the year:

🌟 Chris Berry the best farrier in the south west!
🌟 Cadence Equine Vets Ltd Charlie Tomlinson who’s always there at the end of the phone with her straight talking advice and support.
🌟 Kate Raynor for giving her time on a Saturday morning, helping build confidence, balance and understanding and also resetting my dodgy lines and jump distances 🫣
🌟 Sophie Gregory Mobile Equine Weigh bridge for the regular weigh clinics, helping keep everyone in tip top shape!
🌟 Sam Creed for all our straw, hedge trimming and general farm help with a smile 😂

Winter prep and training has begun!

If you have ever spoken to me about showjumping, you will know how much I hate it, how nervous it makes me and how those nerves let Bolly down on the clear rounds.

Today was our first day of our winter showjumping prep at CCR Equestrian, I plan on doing as much showjumping as I can to get myself over these ridiculous nerves in a competitive environment.

I’m very pleased with our day, not quite a clear round but a positive result nevertheless.

And of course Bolly was incredible, rideable and more confident than ever. He’s genuinely feeling on incredible form at the moment! It’s such a great feeling!!

As always, we were out with our pals Kate Raynor and Mimi who also achieved great things - Kate, how about it…. We’re showjumpers now 😝

Kindly supported by Sophie Gregory Mobile Equine Weighbridge who came out for Bolly’s monthly weigh in and condition check on Wednesday. Bolly has muscled up in the last month, we’ve still a little bit of work to do but we’re all happy with how he’s looking.

Hill Work day for Bolly! 4 benefits of incorporating hills into our training: - BUILDING STRENGTH & TOPLINE - CONDITIONING & FITNESS WORK - IMPROVED WAY OF GOING - MENTAL & PHYSICAL HEALTH Anyone who knows me well knows how much I love to incorporate hill work into our training. Bols has a hill work plan over the next 6-8 weeks of 1-2 hill sessions a week while we build him back up from his summer holiday. We love nothing more than to box out to our local hill. The hill itself is 1 mile long from top to bottom with varying gradients. Heading up on the steepest parts we walk only, encouraging Bolly to work long and low lifting through his core and engage his hindquarters. On the other gradients of the hill I include short bursts of trot to help develop power and push from the hind end. While walking down the hill I like to include a few sideways steps, this helps with coordination. We love hill work!!
