Wednesday we progressed Harlow’s assistant dog training and took him to a shop for the first time.
He was absolutely amazing! He did us really proud and really proved game based training works for all situations!
Lots of people didn’t believe us when we said it was his first time!
Now to continue his training with public access work then he will be a trained assistant dog!
Assistant dog training is something we are looking into starting as myself and Denby (my sister who Harlow is an assistant dog for) as really passionate about helping people with disabilities and find there are not many companies that train psychiatric assistants so this is something we are looking to do.
This is so people like Denby can get extra assistance with their training.
Harlow is owner training by us through positive and game base training thanks to absoluteDOGS!

Tucking under a chair whilst it’s in use!
Essential work for many assistant dogs as it teaching them to happily stay and tuck out the way in confined spaces which you would find at restaurants, pubs, public transport etc.
This was the next level following tucking under an unoccupied chair!
As you can see Harlow Aced it again for the most part with a down position or a sit position.
Game that have help with this are Middle, calmness, focus and Boundaries! 🐾

Tucking under a chair!
Here we worked on Harlow tucking under a chair and being comfortable in the position as going under or through tight spaces can be scary for many dogs.
Harlow took to it straight away thanks to the previous work on boundaries and under the table!
