Yikes it's been almost a month since I posted, I apologise!
I keep forgetting I have this page. I promise to keep it updated from now on 🤣
Today I walked through the Skylarkin' Alpacas Alpaca field here at Cosford Dog Training with Kovu just to get him used to being around livestock that's not just behind a fence and he was amazing!

Kovu had a bath yesterday, as he decided rolling in fox s**t was an attractive quality. 🤣

Snooze time!
It's important that your puppies get enough sleep, at least 18 hours+. It's key for mental and physical development as it contributes to the necessary development of his central nervous system, brain, immune system, and muscles. All of that sleep also helps him rest up during growth spurts. Its also the time when their brain moves everything they've recently learnt from their short term memory to their long term memory.
They can also get quite grouchy when they're tired and become overstimulated, bitey, and turn into little terrors. This is a big sign they're overtired and you need to put them in their crate or pen to sleep.

Made the most of the nice weather and did some retrieve training / play!
He's naturally quite possessive and loves to carry things around which makes a great foundation for teaching retrieve.

Kovu went to his first garden centre with great uncle Jimmy (Threenines Ace of Clubs) and had a great time! He met at least 10+ people who gave him fuss and cuddles, he met a few other dogs of all sizes, including two very yappy chihuahuas in pink dresses 😂
Explored all different surfaces like carpet, tile, wooden planks and more!
He was super confident the whole time.

First proper walk, met a few new dogs and people, and discovered squirrels existed.
He was mega confident the whole time, happily trotting besides me or mooching around within a few meters distance, never spooked or unsure of anything. Not confident enough to go in the water yet but it's pretty cold bless him 😂
One very proud mumma! 🐾

Did someone say spoilt?? 🐾
It's great to have a wide range of toys of varied textures, noises and softness for your pup to play with to aid in mental stimulation and teething relief! 🧠
It's also important for Kovu's jaw muscles and to get him used to holding all sorts of funny shapes and textures as one of his activities in Mondioring (the sport he will be trained for and compete in!) is to retrieve and 'present to handler' a random object chosen by the judge. They vary in every aspect! 🏆

Kovu's Drive Home 🏡 :
He was excellent! He whined a little for the first few minutes as he adjusted to the sights, smells and sounds of travelling in a van, as well as the confusion of who I was and where his mum had gone. But soon after he relaxed, plonked himself down on the seat beside me and rest his head on my leg before falling asleep.
He stayed asleep for most of the journey, occasionally waking up to have a look around and change sleeping position, but he didn't show any signs of fear or major discomfort.
He didn't have any accidents or sickness either.
I'm one very proud mumma! He's definitely a confident little fella already ❤️

Welcome to Kovu's Capers, this page will follow my puppy, Kovu, from his first photographs with his mumma from his breeder, to whom I am eternally grateful. It will follow his life as I train and introduce him to the world, for his working and sporting role in mondioring, but most importantly, to allow him to grow into a well balanced, confident and happy dog.
