Now the first thing I am going to do is disclaim this post: I am not a social media expert in the slightest but I like to further my understanding with how social media works along with the dreaded algorithms.
I shared a post I was tagged in the other day and I was contacted by Harriet from @kindsocial explaining some of the information was a little misleading so I decided, instead of ignoring an expert in the field, I would research what Harriet had said because misinformation can be so damaging.
The post advertised that ‘likes’ were the least important engagement; that saves, shares and comments were of higher value to the algorithm.
There are plenty of factors which influences Instagram’s algorithm, interest being one of them. Instagram learns what to show you based on who you follow, accounts and types of posts you’ve historically interacted with the most, the petiole you are tagged in photos with, and of course, the types of posts that you like and comment on.
Creating content that provides value and get your audience interacting and engaging is important, however asking people to engage to support you is asking for false and fake engagement. Sure, it’s going to work, but your business needs sales and clients, not lots of unmeaningful engagement. Some posts will drive comments because you’re starting an interesting conversation.
No engagement (like, comment, share or save) is more important than the other. Some content will drive saves because it’s useful information that your audience want to come back to, some will drive comments.
Also, the Head of Instagram confirmed the other week that Instagram doesn’t have a term they coin as shadow ban. If a post breaches the community guidelines they will remove or limit its reach.
I hope this helps re-educate the current situation with algorithms.
Let me know what you think or ask a question… However I will re-illiterate I am not an expert. The person for the job in answering your
Hello February
Did January feel like it went on for at least 152 days?!
For me, it was a slow starter but the last two weeks have swizzed past. All my goals I set myself I achieved, which has really made me feel so positive about the second chapter in 2021. Plus this month looks so satisfying in my calendar, 4 weeks, starting on a Monday, all lined up perfectly…heaven.
I find setting goals for the month really helps keep me focused and determined. The key is making sure they are achievable. This month my goals are:
🌟Drink 2 litres of water a day (I’m usually really good at this but recently have been slacking)
🌟Walk at least 10,000 steps a day.
🌟Refresh my knowledge of PPC and SEO
🌟Learn how to successfully use Google my business
February is not only the month I will be refreshing and bettering my knowledge but also my birthday month, so there will definitely be cake!🎂
What are your goals for February?
