Tonight there will be many people who will celebrate bonfire night with fireworks. We would just like to make people understand what a scary time this can be for animals and how to keep our smaller furries safe during these difficult times.
Preparing ahead can really help to help make our furries to feel safe and calm, although firework night never is really only just for one night so it’s good to prepare for the fireworks before, on the day and after.
Please see below for ways you can help to keep smaller animals safe this fireworks season ⬇️
✨ Make sure to provide outdoor and indoor smaller furries with plenty of hides, bedding, such as straw and hay to make them feel more safe.
✨Provide them with enrichment and forage activities to help keep them occupied and entertained.
✨ Move their food and water bowls/bottles to safer spaces where they may hide.
✨ Make sure that their enclosure is safe and secure.
✨ Bring them inside if possible.
✨ If they are indoors, close curtains and windows to reduce the noise and flashes of the fireworks.
✨ Put on some relaxing calm music and a suitable noise level. Classic FM is great for this!
✨ Make sure to check them regularly.
We do advise to introduce things gradually before bonfire night to prevent too much stress, which can also be really stressful for them.
In solidarity to all animals and humans who are affected by fireworks every year. We are encouraging people to donate to a rescue/sanctuary, or another good cause rather than contributing towards fireworks that cause much distress to animals and some humans.
If you would like to make a difference this year and donate towards our rescue instead of fireworks, you can donate here ⬇️
