Understanding Dog Hip Dysplasia and How Nurse Paws Can Help

Dog hip dysplasia is a common condition that affects the hip joint, particularly in larger breeds. It occurs when the ball and socket of the hip joint don't fit together properly, leading to pain, stiffness, and difficulty moving. Over time, this misalignment can cause inflammation and arthritis, reducing your dogโ€™s quality of life.

How Nurse Paws Can Support Your Dog:

Nurse Paws, I, Angela, specialise in helping dogs with mobility issues, including hip dysplasia. As a Certified Emmett Technique Dog Practitioner and a Certified Canine Arthritis Advocate, I combine complementary therapies with practical veterinary nursing care to improve your dogโ€™s comfort and mobility.

The Emmett Technique:

This gentle, hands-on therapy involves light touch to release muscle tension and improve movement. For dogs with hip dysplasia, the Emmett Technique can:

Reduce pain and stiffness in the hips and surrounding muscles

Improve circulation to the affected area

Increase flexibility and ease of movement

Help your dog feel more relaxed and comfortable

Veterinary Nurse Visits:

I also provide tailored home visits to offer guidance on:

Managing chronic pain with lifestyle adjustments

Environmental changes to make daily activities easier for your dog

Advice on maintaining a healthy weight to reduce strain on the hips

A Holistic Approach to Care

Every dog is unique, and my goal is to create a care plan tailored to your petโ€™s needs. Whether itโ€™s through therapy sessions, pain management tips, or ongoing support, Nurse Paws is here to help.

If you suspect your dog is struggling with hip dysplasia or other mobility issues, reach out to Nurse Paws today. Together, we can work to give your dog the care they deserve.

๐ŸŒŸ Narlaโ€™s Journey Back to Full of Beans! ๐ŸŒŸ

Meet Narla, a determined Springer Spaniel, who has been through quite the journey. After elbow surgery in 2022, she faced persistent lameness that didnโ€™t improve, even with physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Despite some relief from Librela, Narlaโ€™s quality of life sufferedโ€”she stopped playing at the farm she loved and spent most of her time lying in the barn. Getting into the car was even a struggle for her worried mum.

But Narlaโ€™s story didnโ€™t end there! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ

After a heartfelt discussion with Caitlyn, the amazing Vet Nurse at Bollington Veterinary Centre, a plan was set into motion. Narla started a weight clinic with Hanna the Vet Nurse and began therapy sessions with me at Nurse Paws to address her lameness.

Fast forward six months, and with dedication from Narlaโ€™s family and the whole team, the results speak for themselves:
โœ”๏ธ Healthy weight loss and a much slimmer shape
โœ”๏ธ No more lameness
โœ”๏ธ A new lease on lifeโ€”running around the farm, playing, and brimming with energy!

We couldnโ€™t be prouder of Narla and her journey. ๐Ÿ’œ Teamwork truly makes the dream work!

Thank you so much for this Google review: ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅฐ

Coming to see Ange for his Emmett Therapy sessions has been a game changer for my spaniel Charlie (who has Spondylosis) Heโ€™s so much more controlled in his movement and walks with far more fluidity. I can not thank you enough. He is the 3rd one of my spaniel team that Ange has been able to improve their quality of life as they get into their senior years.

This is cheeky Millie. Millie came to me as her owner was worried about her. She would only go on slow walks for around 15 mins, needed a buggy to get around, stiffness in walking and a dull demeanour. She has a history of osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, abdominal pain and as she also has liver problems, so she is unable to have most pain medication. So through Veterinary referral from Southfield Veterinary Surgery, I took on this lovely girl. Only from 2 treatments in she is going on 40 minutes walks, even managing a little running, more playful, happier demeanour and has not been in her dog buggy once. She is has had her 4th treatment and is still going strong, and back to her cheeky self. This job is so rewarding, if you are concerned about your pet, give me a message or call, and let me get them back to their cheeky self. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

Understanding Spondylosis in Dogs โ€“ How Nurse Paws and Emmett Technique Can Help Your Pet

Spondylosis is a common spinal condition in older dogs, involving the growth of bony spurs along the spine. While it's often asymptomatic, it can lead to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility, particularly if the bony growths impact nearby nerves or restrict movement. At Nurse Paws, I'm dedicated to helping dogs with chronic pain conditions, including spondylosis, through gentle and supportive therapy.

What Is Spondylosis? In dogs with spondylosis, bony growths (osteophytes) form along the edges of the spine, often as a result of aging or degeneration. It can be painful or limit mobility, especially as it progresses. Symptoms can include:

Stiffness, especially after rest

Reluctance to engage in activities that used to be easy

Sensitivity when touched along the back

Difficulty jumping or climbing

How Nurse Paws Can Help with Spondylosis As a certified veterinary nurse and canine arthritis advocate, I specialize in chronic pain and restricted mobility conditions, including spondylosis. Through Nurse Paws, I offer tailored treatment plans that provide comfort and improved mobility to dogs suffering from this condition. My approach focuses on easing the symptoms and enhancing quality of life.

The Emmett Technique for Dogs The Emmett Technique is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that involves light muscle release to reduce pain, improve movement, and encourage relaxation. For dogs with spondylosis, this can be incredibly beneficial, as it:

Relieves muscle tension around the spine, easing discomfort

Improves circulation and promotes natural healing

Helps reduce stress, making it easier for your dog to relax and move comfortably

With Nurse Paws and the Emmett Technique, I work closely with each pet to address their individual needs, aiming to give them back the ease and comfort they deserve.

If you think your dog may be suffering from spondylosis or another condition affecting their mobility, please feel free to reach out. Letโ€™s work together to give your beloved the relief they need.๐Ÿพ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿพ
