🚨 Backlog Post 🚨

You might remember Peter 'The Feet' who was found weighing 721g, Hypothermic (19 degrees), caked solid with Clay and covered in Flystrike at the bottom of a trench on May 31st this year.

He was seen twice by Oakham Veterinary Hospital Small Animal due to various complications... remember all his infected toes?

He fought off the infections, as well as Capillaria and Lungworm and after a very long time in rehabilitation was released on July 27th weighing a chonky 1208g.

A lot of time and effort went into getting this Hedgehog back into the wild so we hope he's behaving himself now πŸ˜πŸ¦”πŸ€žπŸ™

Aurora from Lodge Park and Ruby from Thrapston are currently responding well to their treatment and Ruby in particular is putting a spurt on with appetite/growth πŸ™Œ

Tonight we have two releases planned and another release planned for Sunday, one of these three hasn't even been introduced on here as we've been so busy but we'll make sure we do...

Sadly Shruby from the Lloyds area lost her battle with a massive Roundworm/Capillaria burden and crossed the Rainbow Bridge πŸŒˆπŸ¦”πŸ™

She was making reasonable progress with the medication but wasn't strong enough.

We tried really hard with her but sometimes it's just not enough.

We have several more posts coming which are all of a more positive nature πŸ‘πŸ™ŒπŸ™

Poor Shruby from the Lloyds area is currently having a very serious battle with Capillaria and we're hoping the medication wins before the parasites totally dominate her little body πŸ™πŸ€ž

This tiny section of a slide shows worryingly nigh numbers of Cap and her poo is currently mostly green slime.

What you can see in straight lines are probably still inside an adult Roundworm, you just can't see the body shape.

She's getting extra levels of care, including supplementary fluids, gut supplements and warmth.

Say Hello to Aurora from Lodge Park, Corby πŸ¦”πŸ‘‹

W-A-Y too small to be out on her own, plus it was daylight.

She's only 99g but was not hypothermic, just extremely thirsty and no doubt hungry.

She's had some fluids, is tucked up in a SnugglePouch and has some Oralade available to get her started and provide much needed ingredients to help her gut and internal organs.

Fingers crossed she remains stable but she is very small πŸ€žπŸ™πŸ¦”

Thanks to her Finders for doing the right thing πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thanks to Oakham Veterinary Hospital Small Animal for an interesting few hours today at their 2025 Open Day πŸ™Œ

Behind the scenes tours, demonstrations, talks and a chance to try out Laparoscopy with Vet Chris (I was rubbish πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚).

No animals were harmed, only a cardboard box 😁

Mrs Hal also had a go at an Ultrasound Examination and managed to find a slice of Tomato in a pile of Tofu πŸ˜βœ…

Also watched an interesting talk by Vet Chris B on animal poisoning where we both learned things we didn't know then had another interesting session on Animal Dentistry πŸ™Œ

After many, many Poo Samples we've finally found the elusive (and dreaded) Fluke in Ruby from Thrapston and yesterday she began treatment for this gut parasite πŸͺ±πŸ¦

She's an extremely timid but super tough little Hedgehog who now weighs an amazing 182g.

She's tucking into 'Pink Food' AKA Royal Canin Mother & Baby Cat as well as a side order of Oralade to boost her gut health as much as possible.

Phone 'Memory' from six years ago...

The TubeWorks Feeding Station before it had the tubes and multiple entrances.

(Yes it had a lid!!)

Simpler times before 44 different Cat's turned up and ruined everything πŸ˜‚

The Cat's got more determined so we had to get smarter....and they NEARLY got the better of us 🫣🀷😁
