And still Peppa waits for her home offer.
After months in kennels we got hugely excited when we received an enquiry for her as it ticked all of our boxes...someone home a lot, secure garden and an understanding of dog reactive dog but sadly they decided it was too soon after losing their dog and they weren’t ready. But logic tells us that if there was one person then there will be another out there.
Finding Peppa a home by Christmas would be the best present for her and us.
She’s currently just outside Melksham and we’re hoping that someone relatively local comes forward as she would need a few meet ups.
Please share to give Peppa every chance to find the home she so desperately needs 🙏

We are almost in 2025 - why are fireworks still legal?

Some people defend fireworks by saying we should use manmade distractions like lights, radio, tv, people, calming spray, dens etc for animals in our homes (and of course we should always do anything we can to help the animals blessed enough to be safe in our homes), however this is in no way any solution to fireworks. What about the animals who live outside our homes? They have absolutely no chance of receiving those man made distractions like putting on a tv or radio or spraying a calming spray over themselves.

Fireworks can cause many people stress too and can trigger PTSD.
Fireworks are no longer only confined to one night of the year, they are used at many events & occasions - basically whenever people choose to use them, they do.

Also we are in the midst of a climate crisis and fireworks cause extensive air pollution in a short amount of time, leaving metal particles, dangerous toxins, harmful chemicals and smoke in the air for hours and days. Some of the toxins never fully decompose or disintegrate, but rather hang around in the environment, poisoning all they come into contact with.

Saying animals/people are harmed/killed in a variety of ways is totally irrelevant to the points made here; such a theory suggests that just because people/animals can be harmed/killed by accidents and natural occurrences we should turn a blind eye to man made causes of harm & death? 🧐

These points only scratch the surface as to the issues caused by fireworks.
The enjoyment of kids and adults is is no way more important than any of the above. There’s a much much bigger picture here than the enjoyment of humans!
Learning to refrain from doing things that cause stress and harm to other beings is a beautiful way to water our seed of compassion within.
Be selfless - be fair - be compassionate - be kind.

We’ve been asked to help rehome this little fellow and I imagine it’s not going to be too much of a problem 😊
His name is Magic, he’s 2 years old and he’s a Spaniel x Border Terrier. He’s neutered and up to date with vaccines and is a great little family dog. He’s living with another dog who is much older than him and doesn’t have the same needs as Magic, he is also living with children and a cat but does chase the cat if it runs but is never aggressive.
Magic is only up for rehoming because the owners recognise that since their work commitments have increased significantly they cannot meet this little chaps needs.
One of the team has been to meet Magic and found him to be a delight.
He currently resides in Melksham.

Some people will say, “It’s just a dog,” but it’s not just a dog. A dog becomes your best friend, the one who’s always there when everyone else is too busy. They’re the comfort when life gets hard, the one who sits with you in your lowest moments without asking for anything in return. They’re the companion who makes you laugh after a long day, even when you don’t feel like smiling.

Your dog becomes your protector, always alert, always ready to keep you safe, even when you don’t realize it. They’re your walking partner, your daily reminder to step outside and breathe when the world feels overwhelming. They’re the keeper of your secrets, sitting by your side while you vent about things no one else will hear.

A dog can become your family, the constant in a world that changes too fast. They’re not just there for the good times, but for the moments when everything feels like it’s falling apart. They’re the one who looks at you with love, no matter what kind of day you’ve had. It’s never just a dog—it’s a piece of your heart, your companion in ways that words can never fully capture.

This is your reminder to keep an eye out for any loose chocolates or sweets if anyone in your household went trick-or-treating last night 🎃 Let's keep dogs safe from foods that can harm them 🐶

[Image description: This is an infographic that reads: Chocolate is toxic to dogs. Never give your dog chocolate as a treat. Make sure children and visitors know this too. Never leave chocolate unsupervised on tables or kitchen surfaces. Make sure bins are dog-proof. If you think your dog has eaten chocolate, seek veterinary advice immediately. Symptoms of chocolate poisoning include: vomitting, diarrhoea, excitability, excessive thirst, drooling, changes in heart rate, seizures.]
