Questions/comments I've been asked/had this year....
Why are your adoption fees so high?
That adoption fee is ridiculous, you can get a baby for that!
You charge for cages? Other Rescues don't?
You charge for Home checks? OK we will go to another rescue...
Can you give us some free perches? Why do you charge for 1-2-1 advice!
We are an open and transparent rescue, we work hard and our birds are fully disease tested, microchipped, as of this week DNA tested, health checked, diet transitioned and much more.
We do not charge for 1-2-1 advice for rescue birds, or for birds coming into rescue wanting to remain in their home.
We have taken a number of non rescue birds into rescue on a boarding basis free of charge to help with diet transition and have covered the costs of food from our own personal pockets.
But I wanted to give you an example of some bills we have paid this week alone... with no adoptions I might add so no income....
Parrot Food - £112.40
Toys, perches - £156.01
Secure Software for contacts & database £72.00 (so your data is protected)
Disease Testing - £345.00
Vet Fees - £581.78
Mileage Claims - £242.26
That is a whopping £1509.00 in a week! That is not even the full amount.
This is just a small example of the costs associated with running a rescue, this doesn't even account for the fact the staff work tirelessly often neglecting our families and friends due to the strain and demand put on us and are unpaid!
So please, next time you want to challenge our fees, please know we set them for a reason. We set them to ensure we can continue to help the birds that are in need of our assistance, so we can rescue and rehabilitate. We are not in this for the money we are in it because we love our feathered family.
We really do appreciate your on going support, without you its not possible.
So thank you!!
