First day on the halter for Innocent and Isabelle, two of our eight babies still here from last summer. We will halter train all of our alpacas, not just so they will walk nicely on a lead but it makes them all gentle to handle going forwards.
We find that if we put the effort into the youngsters now, they never develop bad habits such as spitting or kicking.

We now have his first crop of beautiful babies on the ground and colour tested females pregnant to Satin available.

Due to our low altitude and definite lack of sunlight in the UK, our alpacas struggle to produce their own Vitamin D. To reduce the very real chance of a form of rickets developing, we like to boost their Vitamin D levels every couple of months throughout the autumn and winter period.
As alpacas have tight skin and thick fleeces, injecting under the skin needs a little more skill than in other species. All done for another 8 weeks.

You wouldn’t think they have the option to stand under cover!
More importantly, despite being weaned from their mums for over a month, this is the first time our beautiful fawn girl has put her head in the trough and tucked into her feed pellets.
