Rusland Valley Horticultural Show NEXT SHOW: Saturday 20th August 2022

The Rusland Valley Horticultural Society Show is held on the third Saturday in August in Whitestock Meadow.

It began in 1871 when a group of six farmers and gardeners came up with the idea of holding a small flower show and plant sale. Over 140 years on and this traditional Lakeland Show, offers a warm welcome with a good hearted crowd, a fine display of talent, plenty of entertainment and competitions galore. There are marquees full of home produce, flowers, vegetables, crafts and children's classes. W

e hold traditional sports including fell-running, Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling, Tug o' War, Hound Trails and also flat and fun races. Each year we run two Gardens Competitions - Spring and Summer and this year we are hoping to add to this by having a Children's class for Window boxes.

There's plenty for all to enter from the well seasoned fell runners and those inspired by the recent Olympic games to those who fancy catching and throwing an egg! Or not catch as many did at last year's show...

Open to all teams of six and must include two females

The £100 prize has been generously donated by Manor House Oxen Park

There will also be a children’s competition for 8 - 14 year olds with medals generously donated by Maureen Boyren

Never fear, the bar will be open for a cold one afterwards!
