Ohhhh would you look at that… AristoCat Care turned 2 years old on Thursday 🎉😹 Things have been so hectic lately that I completely forgot all about it!! Classic me, memory like a sieve 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Honestly… thank you. Every single one of you who’s trusted me with your fluffy darlings, invited me into your homes, recommended me, shouted my name across Facebook… you’ve made this wee dream an actual career. I still get that “is this real life?” moment every time a cat headbutts me or gives me that slow-blink of approval. Absolute honour. Absolute privilege. Absolute madness. Wouldn’t change it 😽🩷

Here’s to many more years of whiskers, diva antics, grooming glow ups, and me forgetting important dates because someone’s cat stole my attention again 🐾✨.

Also, keep your eyes peeled for some exciting news after the year 🥳👀

😸 So… let’s talk matting. You know, those little tangles that start off looking innocent and then suddenly your cat’s got a full blown felted puffer vest glued to their side 🫠

Matts aren’t just a bad hair day. They can:
• Pull at the skin (ouch)
• Hide sores
• Trap dirt, grease, fleas and… mysteries
• Cause infections
• Make your cat grumpy because imagine wearing a clingy jumper you can’t take off 😾

And when things get really wild, you end up with pelting 😭. That’s when the coat basically fuses into one solid layer. Like armour, but in the least majestic way possible.

Once a coat’s pelted, it can’t be brushed out. It needs to come off safely with clippers. No amount of positive thinking (or bribery treats) will fix it 🙊.

Now, prevention! Because yes, I love your cats, & I’d rather they were comfortable 24/7 ❤️.

✨ Daily grooming: few minutes quick brush each day, job done. Even if they give you that “how DARE you” look. They’ll survive.
✨ Long haired divas need a wee bit more attention. Think of it as maintaining their celebrity status.
✨ If your cat hates grooming, is older, or carrying a wee bit extra fluff (no judgement, same), this is where Lion Cuts or Teddy Cuts come in. They aren’t fashion statements… okay maybe a little… but mostly they keep your cat comfortable, matt free, and stress free. And honestly? A Teddy cut on a grouchy old lad… elite vibes 🧸

Anyway, if your cat’s starting to sound like velcro, or you’re finding mysterious lumps in the coat that don’t move… that’s your sign to get help before things get spicy. I’m always here, tools in hand, cat hair in mouth, living my best life 😂🐾

“Think fleas disappear in winter? Sadly… they don’t.”

A lot of pet owners breathe a sigh of relief when the weather turns colder — but fleas don’t actually go away over winter.

Here’s the tricky part 👇
Flea eggs and larvae can lie dormant for up to 9 months, waiting for the right warmth and movement to hatch.
And with central heating on, cosy carpets, blankets, and sofas… our homes become the perfect little holiday resort for them.

We see it every year:
Pets come in for a groom in December or January and owners are shocked to find fleas still hanging on.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Fleas love warm indoor environments
• Even one adult flea can lay dozens of eggs
• Eggs can hatch suddenly when the heating goes on
• Regular grooming helps spot any early signs
• Prevention is always easier than clearing an infestation

If you’re worried your pet might have unwanted winter “guests” please let us know when booking and we will give you a suitable slot.

😻🏡 EXCITING NEWS 🏡😻

Soooo… major update from the AristoCat household because chaos clearly wasn’t at maximum capacity yet 😹🐾

We’ve inherited the absolute QUEEN herself — Storm 👸🏼 (previously Burble). You might recognise her gorgeous wee face from my grooming and pet sitting antics 🙊.

Her lovely humans have a new baby and were totally juggling life on hard mode, and they just wanted the best for this majestic floof. They asked if I’d like to rehome her and… well… have you SEEN her?! Of course I said yes. 😭💕

Not gonna lie, I was a nervous wreck about introducing her to my three litter mates 😭. I’ve never done a full integration before, and I had all the classic “oh god what if they all hate each other and form rival street gangs” thoughts running through my head 🙃

So I reached out to the fabulous Ffion at The Feline Care Company, who basically held my hand through the entire process like the absolute Maine C**n Queen she is ❤️. She made everything feel easy… which it absolutely is NOT without proper guidance. I’d be hiding behind a sofa right now if not for her 😂 - she has literally been my absolute rock this past while helping me navigate the minefield & keeping me calm (because I was proper overwhelmed 🙊). I cannot thank her enough 🙏💖.

If you ever need help with kitty behaviour, integrations, or just want someone to go “yep, your cat is doing that because… cat,” Ffion is your gal. She’s magic. Actual magic. ✨🐱

Anyway… welcome to your furever home, Storm. You are already so loved! All 4 kitties getting on fabulous!! A very happy little family of 6 now 😻❤️

Just a wee reminder: I take a non-refundable deposit for all grooming appointments. Not because I’m mean, but because… cancellations happen. A lot 😢

When someone cancels last minute, I’ve usually packed all my kit, loaded the car, mapped the route, and I’m ready to roll up to your door to pampurr your floofs… and then p**f. No appointment. No cat. No income for that slot at all. FYI one month I had over £1000 of cancellations!! That’s my mortgage payment up in smoke 🏡💨

And honestly? I pay deposits for loads of appointments in my own life. Most service-based businesses take deposits because last-minute cancellations leave them with empty hours they can’t refill. Same for me. People are flaky (as we all know)!!

So nope, I’m not going to feel bad for doing what literally every other self-employed human does to protect their time and earnings. Especially when I’m driving all over Edinburgh & the Lothians to wrangle your majestic, spicy, slightly judgy felines. 😼🔥

And honestly… the amount of fluff that still comes off this lad during a routine groom? I could knit myself a second Fergus. Maybe a scarf. Maybe a third Fergus. It never ends.

He just sits there like, “Yes, human, remove my excess floof. I am a sophisticated gentleman.” And he IS. A very furry, very handsome one. 🐾💖

Dashing Jasper & his fifth glow-up 💅🐾 Honestly… what a legend. When we first met he was like “absolutely not human 😾”. Now he’s sitting there like a wee gentleman, letting me brush his floof like it’s no big deal. Growth 🥳. Character development. Main character energy 😹✨

Love seeing cats realise the grooming game isn’t so scary after all — just part of their royal routine now 👑
