It’s time for….MONDAY MORNING MINDFULNESS!!🙏

Hello again, I hope you are all well. Monday has come around so soon!
It’s been pretty cold and icy around a lot of the UK lately - our little spot in Kent included this time. We’ve been wrapping up in many layers of clothing and trudging round chipping ice out of water bowls. Some of the hens love this as it gives them a chance to peck ice! Sometimes they pick up a piece in their beak and run away so the other hens don’t get it. They make the best of life no matter what the situation.
As always we can learn a lot from hens. For today’s mindfulness let’s take some time to sit for a short while and drop the question into our minds ‘what brings me joy?’ Sometimes the answer will be instant and other times we need to wait a little. Whether it’s one thing or many, see if you can include something that brings you joy in your day.
Have a good week everyone and be kind to yourselves and other 🥰🐓🙏xx

It’s very cold here at Beesfield and some of our elderly hens struggle in this weather.
This is Ginger (or Ginge to her friends). She was standing away from the other hens with her head under her wing so we knew it was time for her to come indoors until the weather is warmer.
We’re having a sit and a cuppa before she joins the others in the hen hospital.

It’s time for….
MONDAY MORNING MINDFULNESS!!

Welcome back! It’s a new year, a new month and the first ‘normal’ Monday for a while.
Being a new year there’s been a lot of media information on diets and a steady stream of people jogging down the lane. It’s good to have goals but we can get caught up in wanting to get to a future time, away from what is happening right now.
If hens made new year resolutions they would be to be fully present in each moment and to make the best of what life presents you with at that time. They love the sun in summer, kicking leaves in the autumn and eating ice in the winter. If they are cold they huddle together with friends and if they are warm they enjoy the sun.
So….. for today’s mindfulness let’s try to come back to the present moment each time we find ourselves striving towards or dreaming of the future. As always, we can learn so much from hens.
Have a good week everyone and take care of yourselves and others 🥰🧡🐓xx

Peggy’s flock contains many bantams who have often come here because they have become lone hens having outlived the rest of their flock. Being a bit ‘low-slung’ they need extra protection from the mud.
We are so grateful to Mandy Taylor for buying them one of the rubber mats on our Amazon wish list 🥰.
The girls ‘helped’ me put down some wood chip and now have a cosy place to shelter. Thank you Mandy 🙏🐓xx

It’s time for……
MONDAY MORNING MINDFULNESS !!🙏🥰

Hello everyone, here we are again so soon 😳, I hope you had a good week.
We've arrived at that time of year where there's an awful lot of busyness and rushing around as we hurtle towards Christmas.
Even if, like us, you don't really 'do' Xmas in a big way it's still so easy to be caught up in the hectic pace going on around you.
After months of build up there's often an expectation that Xmas should be perfect - just as the adverts show us - but the reality can be different. This is where mindfulness is useful in so many ways. Firstly we can take a deep and calming breath whenever we find ourselves rushing or feeling stressed. Feel the weight of the body being held by the earth beneath our feet. Then we can remind ourselves to keep it simple in as many ways as possible. Does it matter if we haven't written all our cards? If we don't have 5 different types of vegetables for Xmas dinner? Do we need to stress and make sure our decorations are matching? Meanwhile the hens potter around and show us how life need not be so chaotic, that we can still enjoy this time of the year moment by moment.
Have a good week everyone and be kind to yourselves and others ❤️🐓xx

It’s time for….
MONDAY MORNING MINDFULNESS!!🙏❤️

Well here we are again, another Monday so soon 😳. Monday mornings in the winter can be can be pretty difficult. It’s often dark and grey, sometimes cold, sometimes wet. This can often lead to the ‘winter blues’.

When we feel down, whether it’s due to the time of the year or something else, we can sometimes get caught up in the negative emotions and believe that we are alone in feeling this way. When this happens it can be helpful to remember that there will be so many people feeling the same way and maybe hiding behind a mask of happiness.

Mindfulness encourages us to become aware and accepting of all emotions that come our way, whether positive or negative. When they are negative we need to take extra care to remember self care and compassion.
So…. for today’s mindfulness let’s take a pause and a few mindful deep breaths and tune into our emotional weather. How are we feeling? What things can we do to care for ourselves right now? Then let’s extend compassion outwards to the many many others who feel the same way and know you’re most definitely not alone.
Have a good week everyone and be kind to yourselves and others 🥰🐓🐓🧡xx

We are very sorry to announce that we have had to pull out of our hoped leghorn rescue due to take place before Xmas.
We still don’t have a date yet but I am due to have eye surgery sometime in January, possibly earlier. This will mean that I will be out of action for a good few weeks so we have taken this decision.

If you would like to rehome any ginger hens we can help you find some! There are plenty available right now that are seeking forever homes so please just ask and we’ll point you in the right direction.

It’s time for…
MONDAY MORNING MINDFULNESS!!🙏❤️

Hello again, another Monday morning has come round again so soon. It’s a new day and also our first Monday in December. So it’s officially winter (although we’ve been lucky with the weather here so far) and the lead up to Xmas starts in earnest 😳.

Whether or not you enjoy the festivities or you’re a bit ‘bah humbug!’ like us, the pace of life around us is going to build up. This is when mindfulness can really help us to find a moment of calm in a busy world. So…. for today’s mindful moment let’s really look after ourselves by stepping away from the madness and into our own calm bubble. However busy you may be take a break and sit for a short while and use your breath as a point of focus by becoming aware of the in breath and the out breath and the space between each breath. If you find your mind wandering to thoughts of the past or the future bring it back to the current moment by returning your awareness to the breath again. Notice that you have taken time for yourself and then return to your day.
Have a good week everyone and be kind to yourselves and others ❤️🙏🐓xx

UPDATE: I have managed to add the other half of the sanctuary, Nick, to be an admin on the page AND sort out my Facebook password. We will carry on online !!! 🙏

The picture of Edith explains exactly how I deal with technology !! I have got a new phone and, unfortunately, need to try and get a new password for my page when I change over (I’ve long forgotten it). The last time I did this it all went horribly wrong and i ended up having to set up new accounts…..
I’m hoping it will work again but if you don’t see any of our posts we will be out there under Beesfield and Hens in some form!!!😬🙏

We are so grateful to Ron Parker and Mary who live over the field from us for sending the chooks a big tub of sunflower heats! 🥰
We’ve popped it into the hen hospital and Camilla wanted to try them straight away to make sure they were ok. She says they’re lovely and thank you Ron and Mary ###

It’s time for….. MONDAY MORNING MINDFULNESS!! 🧡🙏
Hello everyone, here we are again, a new Monday and a new week. It’s been a busy time at Beesfield trying to get everything done in the shortening daylight hours. Last week was very cold and the water froze. Filling up all the huge number of hen water bowls took ages and made me grumpy…. until I saw a little flock enjoying the ice.
Hens love life and make the best of whatever is around them. It reminded me of ‘when life gives you a lemon make lemonade’.
So…. For this today’s mindfulness if you find yourself moaning or irritated at a situation see if there’s a way to turn it around - be more henlike.
Have a good week everyone and look after yourselves and others 🥰🐓xx

A massive thank you to Mandy Taylor for this lovely surprise!! We are so grateful for your kind donation ❤️🐓###

One of their favourites are sunflower seeds. They are a good source of protein which helps them though their moult.
If you would like to send the chooks some seeds they have an Amazon wish list and would be very grateful!

Maureen and Camilla aren’t 100% fit so they go out during the day and come in at night. It’s far too chilly for them today so they’re ’free ranging’ in the hen hospital.
Thank you Kathryn Bell for the towels - they’re being used already 🥰
