We've been working on some improvements at Moss Hill which we need to talk about in a separate post coming soon...

Take a look at our new strain Bears Head, a close relative to Lions Mane, containing all the same beneficial compounds for healthy brains 🧠 (and just as tasty)

In stage 2 of the farming process, the liquid culture we saw in stage 1 is added to nutrient rich grains - here at Moss Hill we use whole white millet. On the first picture you will see the prepared grains on the left and on the right the grains after full colonization.

Some of you have been asking "So how does this mushroom farming all work?"

The first stage begins in the lab. Mycelium is expanded in a liquid culture - a nutrient rich broth containing just the right amount of sugars for the vegetative stage of mushroom growth. Using liquid cultures allows us to expand our mycelium almost indefinitely.

See below for a short clip of our Turkey Tail culture mixing, plus a bonus shot in the comments of the culture tested on agar to ensure we're growing just the right kind of fungus (no contaminants).
