TLC Canine Care

TLC Canine Care I have always been an animal lover and can't think of anything I'd rather do than work with dogs in whatever form that takes.

Having them stay and enjoy themselves with my own dogs gives me great pleasure and their owners peace of mind.

Gorgeous girl still looking for that right forever home she so deserves 💖

Little wren needs a forever home .

Wren is 3 in July, she was found in a stinky poo covered chicken shed with her pups , breathing in all that stinky mess .

She has been in rescue since March .
She is spayed , vaccinated and chipped .

Can be a little shy until she gets to know you .

Wren can live with another dog , she isn't cat tested but with careful introduction could be ok with a dog savvy cat .
Children over 10.
If interested in Wren please send us a DM .
A safe secure garden required.
Thanet and surrounding areas only.

Great advice especially if just a puppy.

Great advice especially if just a puppy.

Refusing to move?
Panting?
Shaking and desperate to escape?
Vet visits can be terrifying for dogs, especially when visits are only for procedures that may be unpleasant, involve restraint, needles or even pain.

This step by step guide can help even the most fearful pups.
The ones that want to bolt back back out that door.

It won't work in a day or two....it isn't meant to.
We don't just get over our fear and neither do our dogs.

The time to start this is when there are no immediate issues your vet needs to assess.

Take your time and try not to rush this.
I know you want this to work.....so give it your best shot by going slow.

This works when there is no pressure, no panic and no rush.

"They just adore each other" 😍

Do they? 🤔
Sometimes we really want to see signals that just aren't there.

We may focus on one area....like a wagging tail, because it "confirms" what we hope is true.
The reality though is scared, conflicted or anxious dogs can and often do wag their tails.

Unsure what's occurring?
In moments like these....the majority "rules".

A dog "backing away" ?
That can be a pretty clear signal for us to pay attention to.
It can even be combined with a little "happy dance".
That pattering and quick plods....those fast moving feet?

It can look playful but can mean your dog is unsure or even uncomfortable with what is happening.

Scroll back a few posts.
Look at ways to support those nervy greeters.
There are lots of ideas for that on this page.

Forcing interactions is never a way to fast track anything positive.

Our missing spaniels
Please take a moment to share these missing dogs . It's so very important that we get shares to groups and pages up and down the country .

Thankyou to each of you that takes time each day to share these missing babies

I'm so looking forward to the 1day seminar on July 15th with Suzanne Clothier. She is an amazing trainer and behaviour expert. I have read many of her books including her last one Finding Balance which I'm reading now in conjunction with Beyond the Breed by Heather Stevens on Functional Characters which is mindblowing. So sorry much to keep up with the learning. My other go to book is The Do No Harm Dog Training And Behaviour Handbook Featuring the Hierarchy of Dog Needs by Linda Michaels MA a leading voice in the Force Free training world much to the horror of the so-called 'Balance' trainers who still rely on shock collars, prong collars, choke chains and other punitive methods causing fear and pain to induce 'good' behaviour! Say no more...

I'm so looking forward to the Suzanne Clothier 1 day seminar on July 15th near Maidstone. Its amazing that such a great name in dog behaviour is coming not just to the UK but actually down here in Kent. It almost never happens. I'm going on my own (feeling brave) but I'm fine with that too. Should be an amazing day 🥰

Our Story

Services include:

‘Shy Dog’ Day Care is aimed at those dogs/puppies who are timid and shy around people and often feel safer being with other dogs. This can occur through poor breeding, neglect, abuse, rescue dogs, really any dog that may have lost their trust or never truly gained any. This specialised service allows your dog to interact as he/she chooses with my own dogs and so learn through them to become comfortable around myself and other knowledgeable dog friends and associates and so help to build confidence around people in general, although sone dogs will always retain a certain wariness, just as we do when we have been victims of a trauma. They need time, patience and an environment where they can start to feel safe again.

Occasional homeboard overnight stay - £25
