I have always been an animal lover and can't think of anything I'd rather do than work with dogs in whatever form that takes.
Having them stay and enjoy themselves with my own dogs gives me great pleasure and their owners peace of mind.

When strangers touch our dogs without consent, it can be unsettling for them—much like an unexpected touch feels to us. Dogs deserve respect and agency over their bodies. Politely guiding others to wait for the dog’s signals, like approaching willingly or leaning in, helps ensure interactions are safe and comfortable.

I will accept Titre tested dogs as know only too well what harm over vaccinating can do to a dog’s health and immune system.
This is a very good overall read.
The World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) is a global veterinary community that bases its guidelines on evidence-based veterinary medicine. These guidelines give vets the current scientific advice on the best vaccination concepts. In this blog, we will be discussing core vaccinations, th...

Oh yes …
I can read my dog like a book without him saying a single word. The way his ear twitches when he's uncertain. How he presses against my leg when he's anxious. The specific way he tilts his head when he's happy. The look he gives me when he needs to go out versus when he just wants attention. We've built this whole language between us that's deeper than words. And here's the crazy part - he reads me just as well. I don't have to tell him when I'm sad. He just knows. He comes over, puts his heavy head on my lap, and stays. When I'm anxious, he stays closer. When I'm happy, his whole body wiggles with shared joy. No explanations needed. No words required. Just pure understanding. With humans, even speaking the same language, we constantly misunderstand each other. We say one thing and mean another. We assume and misinterpret and confuse. But with my dog? Communication is crystal clear and completely honest. If he's happy, he shows it. If he's uncomfortable, I know immediately. There are no games, no hidden meanings, no confusion. Just genuine connection based on presence and energy and unconditional love. That's rarer and more valuable than any human relationship I've ever had. We don't need words when we have understanding this deep.

Was it bad info?
"They said this dog was cat and dog friendly!"
➡️They may be good around dogs and cats.
That doesn't mean a newly adopted dog needs to or should meet your dog or cat right away.
They've been through a lot and it would be a rare dog indeed that has been through an adoption/rescue situation and has absolutely no stress surging through them.
➡️Some may be in "survival" mode.
This can mean they will bond very heavily to someone that is now providing resources. Resources can cause some very big problems in the animal world.
➡️Territorial issues.
Your new animals may really not want this "intruder" here either.
They can make those feelings very clear and that can cause more stress for everyone.
➡️You've rushed into it.
Everyone's excited.
It's natural to want everyone to get along, but that doesn't mean they should meet just yet.
If you've rushed this, you'll now know why taking it slow is a very good idea.
So was it bad information you were given?
Not deliberately.
We don't live in a world where we can know everything about a dog's past life.
Yes, they may have been tested with dogs and cats.
They may have passed that test beautifully, but again there are a hundred reasons why they were ok in that environment and may be struggling in your home now.
Rescues are doing it tough.
The strain on everyone is evident, there are just too many dogs needing homes and not enough room at the "inn".
Rehoming demand is gaining momentum and that momentum is getting faster and faster.
It’s difficult for them to keep up and for many, it’s becoming impossible.

I can honestly say I love what I do, not just the boarding etc but helping both dogs and people in anyway I can whether that’s advice, practical help, helping potential new owners to hopefully find the right dog or basically anything dog. I am constantly following up on the latest research and practicing it and every day is fascinating and teaches you something new. I guess I’m very lucky 😊

‘Shy Dog’ Day Care is aimed at those dogs/puppies who are timid and shy around people and often feel safer being with other dogs. This can occur through poor breeding, neglect, abuse, rescue dogs, really any dog that may have lost their trust or never truly gained any. This specialised service allows your dog to interact as he/she chooses with my own dogs and so learn through them to become comfortable around myself and other knowledgeable dog friends and associates and so help to build confidence around people in general, although sone dogs will always retain a certain wariness, just as we do when we have been victims of a trauma. They need time, patience and an environment where they can start to feel safe again.
