Putting feelers out

🐴🐎2 DIY STABLES AVAILABLE🐎🐴

Looking for 1 person with either 1 or 2 horses.

Lovely brick stable block with windows and individual lighting.
Automatic water drinkers.
Electric and mains water.

Stunning hacking on country lanes or 10 minutes of mostly tracks and fields to get to the trans Pennine trail. 30/40 min hack along the trail and off road all the way to Hazlehead Hall Equestrian Centre who are holding lots of shows, clinics and offer indoor/outdoor arena hire. 10 mins from the a616.

Will have own paddock or if there's 2 horses they can share.

All year grass turn out but respectfully. (Not absolutely hammer the ground and have some indoor days or few hours turn out.)

The stables are long and more narrow in shape. (My lads 16.2) Ideally smaller horses
Must respect electric fencing
No door kickers or cribbers.
A kind horse that's not easily stressed or going to come through the fence if I take mine out for a ride.

We are getting there with the maintenance now and still in the process of fencing after taking all the old out last summer. Some of the field wants draining but we didn't get round to that last year.

Ideally someone that fits in with the mad house, doesn't mind a 3 year old asking 1000 questions and treats it like home from home.

This is our kids little haven too so don't be offended if I don't think it would work as I want the best for everyone ☺️ the kids are all brilliant around animals but i wouldn't want anything here that's going to pick them up by the hair πŸ™ˆ

Either kids that my daughter can ride with or it would be nice to have someone to ride my own out with.

I know I sound picky but honestly we are the most laid back family and always happy to help if we can ☺️

Joe πŸ–€

He's getting braver with the traffic although we didn't go out on the road on Tuesday because of the amount of flooded areas, spray and cars crashing through them. I think that would have just completely undone the work of getting him confident with cars/ vans/ bigger vehicles.

He shudders and tap dances when he's worried but doesn't actually do anything or go anywhere. I'm hoping he calms down with it with a few more road rides.☺️

He's a really polite boy and likes to get on with his ride. πŸ‡πŸΌ

Pride πŸ‡πŸΌ

He's getting better with traffic and not panicking half as much at little things. He really enjoys going out more especially with Rita!

He can pace sometimes but does get into a normal trot rhythm if you rise. I find him so much fun! Brings back memories of jumping on and off horses for a fiver for people at the sales as a kid. πŸ˜‚ There was alot of trotters/pacers back in the day!

He's a sweet boy πŸ’•

(Also I'm pretty sure I didn't whisper canter to him while walking πŸ‘»πŸ˜‚)

SilverπŸ’Ž

Crazy how much he's grown up and matured in such a short amount of time!

He was spooky and reactive with things that frightened him or was new. There's none of that behaviour anymore. It's long gone for silver! He's turned into a proper horse now although he did shy at some bluebells earlier πŸ˜‚ I was surprised his brain was still on this planet after how laid back he's gone so I was relieved he shyed πŸ˜‚

Heres l a pic of him laid down again... He's had a busy week of showjumping clinics! πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Ziggy ☺️

He's young and just getting going really with his hacking.

Getting him out with his owners other horse so they hack nicely together. Getting his walk more forward and letting him see the busy life of the estate. Schooling with his contact and trying to ride him up into his bridle as it's very easy for cobs to go lower and end up tripping up especially when they are young and imbalanced. It's surprising what schooling you can actually do out hacking πŸ’ͺ🏻

He's a pretty perfect golden boy though 😍

Santos πŸ‘‘

2nd ride this week on this gorgeous big lad. He gets quite tense in the school if you have too much contact, the more you pull the more he pulls you. The more tense and faster he feels. ( Ex carriage horse)

Quite an off putting feeling for his owner as they have scared eachother in the past from this situation.

We are going for the no contact/ outline approach. The it doesn't matter what he looks like as long as he's happy and gaining confidence at the minute and then his owner will gain her trust back with him. It doesn't look perfect but it looks better and more relaxed than towing and pulling all the way around the arena, plus that clearly doesn't make him happy.

He doesn't need to be a dressage horse if he doesn't want to be that. His owner is happy taking him round Farnley with her daughter and doing the odd clinic. We don't need perfect horses we just need happy ones with happy owners! ☺️

Joey πŸ¦„

I feel like a proud mum on their kids first day of school today β˜ΊοΈπŸ˜‚

So joey has been known not to hack alone. (To be really naughty and buck/spin/ want to go back home to his friends)

Today we went solo. He went, he was nervous at first snorting leaving the yard but he didn't say no. He slowed down abit half way down the track and as you can see he's looking, tense, and trying to slow time to see if I'm after him...

He did need alot of reassurance for this bit but once on the roads at the bottom he was chilled and actually really enjoyed himself 😍

His owner asked If I was back safe in one piece so he must have displayed some good tricks in the past πŸ˜‚ hopefully Joey's turned a corner and now he's in a lot more work actually realising it's fun! πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I think he's ace! πŸ’Ž

Had some really good rides on spice this past couple of weeks! πŸ’ͺ🏻

She seems to have taken the laid back approach to life lately which I'm definitely not complaining about πŸ˜‚

She's not really sharp at all anymore, not like she used to be. Sometimes if she's that way out she will be but not like crazy reactions to things.

She also had a make over on Tuesday and I took her mane up by half of what it was πŸ’‡πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Ask me 4 years ago to video off spice while cantering or do a sky dive I think id of opted for the sky dive been safer πŸ˜‚

You can't help but like the fiery red head 🧑

Lady πŸ’Ž

I'm actually super proud of her 😊 her owner bought her from the field. She came and was very very large.
She's a proper stamp of cob possibly some french draught type with how wide her chest is.

Her owner did a great job at managing her food intake and she also went through the vets for an issue with her leg.

That's when the work begun! Getting lady back into work from box rest she was abit of a ticking bomb but she loved going out on her rides. Ive rode her 3 times a week and the results are definitely showing in her fitness now!

She really struggled to go round the school. She would walk with her head facing the wall with no bend and her neck solid. She couldn't maintain a trot and if you got any kind of contact she would just pull down and pull the reins out of your hand. She found it so difficult bless her!

Now 3/4 months on and look at her go!
I'm so proud of her! She still finds the school work harder fitness wise but she tries her best! Her owner has worked so hard at managing everything to get her to this point and has a couple of weekly lessons too on her.

Every little helps no matter how much work you give them, anything is better than nothing at all and most importantly what you do do is enjoyable and achieving goals πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸŽ‰

The last week has been a good one! πŸ‡πŸ»

The horses are all improving little by little!

Joe did his first roadwork session after not getting out on the road for a few years. He was very good! Didn't see anything massive but the things we did see introduced him back into it nicely ☺️

Silver crossed the rocky stream (when he gets unsure his reaction to being nervous was abit dramatic but honestly I can't believe the difference in his confidence! He had a sniff at the water and in his own time went across like spaghetti legs ☺️ he's also alot more confident on the roads. We haven't done too much change in the areas as I wanted to get him confident doing the 4 rides that are closer on his own.

Spice is slowly coming back into work, although a little sticky once warmed up she seems to really enjoy it. I let her have a little jump the other day just to mix it up and stop her from getting board in the arena. She easily switches off if her brain isn't engaged. She absolutely loved popping the jumps!

Lady is getting fitter, had her new saddle fitted and went on some challenging rides. Her mum got on her yesterday after me and I borrowed jigs and we went on a proper ride together! I'm not sure Charlene will be able to walk today though 🀣 she over came her nerves and did it!

Pride went solo this week he's starting to settle alot more on his rides and is slowly getting braver in traffic. He will have a little bunny hop if he's really frightened of something coming towards him if it's big and loud. But he's not backing up like he was before which is positive! He's a really sweet lad.

Pascal got dropped off the other day. Just letting him settle and getting him less shy before I worm him. He's getting better to touch and coming for a snack now ☺️ this week I'll see how much he will let me start brushing him ☺️

Hoping for some nice weather so the kids can get back riding!

No riding next week due to op on Tuesday but I'll be back next πŸ’ͺ🏻

Pride has been getting out and about on the roads to re introduce wagons after some time off from hacking.

The first couple of weeks was abit hair raising with the speed of some wagons from bullhouse bridge into millhouse but we did it! Pride would nearly sit down and shudder in a panic.

Most slow and give him time and this has helped massively! Hugely grateful for the polite and patient wagon drivers who probably think I'm out there doing it for fun πŸ˜‚

A couple of minutes of them slowing and coming past carefully lets me go home to my kids at the end of the day.

He's been really brave with the help from Rita assisting him over the past couple of rides. He's a lovely boy 😍

Penny has been out and about on the long lines lightly over the winter/spring months seeing all kinds of things on the trail and around the roads taking it all in her stride.

I can now take her out on my own without assistance and she's feeling bold and brave. She's also learnt how to lunge and getting better each time!

Lightly backed and walked around. Did a little solo on the track.

She's such a smart sweet girl, a bright future for this big girl πŸ˜πŸ‡πŸ»πŸ’•
